I'm hooking up my Memorex wireless keyboard and mouse. I hooked up the two pieces coming off the wireless receptor to the computer and now I can't get the mouse and keyboard to work. Do I press the button on the wireless receptor?

There should be a connect button on both the receiver unit that is plugged into the usb port, and on each device (Mouse, and Keyboard) you will have to press all of these again to reconnect the devices to the computer.

Most wireless mouse and keyboard combinations require that you "authenticate" the mouse and keyboard to the receiver.

Ensure that the batteries in your mouse and keyboard have enough charge in them. Once you have the PC on, hit the button on the reveiver and then under both the mouse and keyboard there should be a connect button also. Ensure you have pressed both of those.

If your receiver runs via USB you will need to wait for windows to recognise it first before the above.

Do i need a keyboard and a receiver for the mouse to work and if not how do i hook it up

Your wireless mouse and Keyboard work with the same wireless transmitter that is plug in into a USB port.of your computer. You can use the wireless mouse with that USB transmitter and dont use the wireless Keyboard. If you need a keyboard you can get one to be plug in into a USB port with the wire attach to the keyboard.

Check that the receptor end is firmly placed in the USB port.

Bring the mouse close to the receptor and see if works then.

Check if you put batteries in the mouse.

Check the battery enegy levels.

Key board help :{

The keyboard and the mouse work on different wireless sensors. Your wireless keyboard should have come with a receiver too. Unless the mouse and keyboard came together as a set, you'll need two different receivers. Check the battery compartment of the keyboard for the sensor. Some models have a hidden area there to store the usb key for the keyboard.
The only exception is if the keyboard is bluetooth, and your computer already has a bluetooth receiver in it (many laptops and phones come with this feature, lately). You will have to check the website for your keyboard's manufacturer to download drivers. You may also be able to order a replacement USB key for it, but I've never been able to. :P
Best bet is to contact the guy you bought the keyboard from and ask him/her: "Where's the USB receiver for this keyboard you sold me?"

I have a swissgear wireless mouse but

There should be a switch on it. Try taking a pin and wiggling it back a forth. Also make sure it's on. One piece plugs in the USB port (looks like a thin rectangular slot)

If it came with software you may need to install the software first. Try also restarting your computer with it hooked up.

You might have to unplug the other mouse also or when you start your computer it may confuse the computer.

Laptop going fritzo! when hooked up to wireless mouse

If you can try to hook up the mouse to another computer or a friends computer, if it still acts the same way then it's the mouse and probably should be replaced.

Hope this helps.
