Question about Frigidaire GLTR1670A Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Spin cycle issue

It may be the spin cycle but all of s\a sudden it wouldnt spin and wouldnt \drain the last bit of water. during spin it just hummed. now, we tried to start a new cycle and the washer will not fill. so i am not sure exactly if it is the spin cycle in particular or an issue with filling and draining as the cyles begin and change.

If this is a frigidaire as in the healine , then see if the tub turns over at all. if not then it may be the inverter board located on the bottom right rear. If there is water left in the tub now that water should drain before it will fill again. check drain pump for obstruction/operation.
for the inverter, there is a techsheet in the bottom attached to the wall, It gives info for checking it. Have a multimeter handy.

Washer does not spin cycle, why?

In top load washers, if the machine goes through the cycles and then just stops at the spin cycle and leaves you with no noise and a tub full of water more than likely the lid switch is bad and not completing the circuit for cycle to continue. This is a safety precaution to prevent injury by reaching in the machine while at high speed spin. If the machine is getting to the spin cycle and still turning slowly but not draining the water, the pump is probably the culprit, either being locked up or in most cases something like a sock, etc. is stuck in it preventing it from turning. This is usually indicated by a humming sound during the spin/drain section with no water draining.

Does not complete spin cycle

Ok, when this happens, its usually because of a drainage issue. the spin cycle has to work in conjunction with the drain pump to remove the water during the spin cycle and, if there is a clog or drainage issue, the spin cycle will shutdown. check the following to address this drainage issue.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

Washer keeps stopping during any cycle

the humming noise could be from two sources and it is worth while doing a few simple checks first the drain pump is jammed with a foreign object. check nothing caught in the impellor second water not available - check taps turned on. also turn water off, undo fill hoses, put in a bucket and turn water back on try on drain or spin programs to check water drainage as well
