BEKO FRIDGE FREEZER SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION

I'm pasting this response on all queries regarding the recently announced issue with BEKO fridge freezers and the risk of fire from their defrost mechanisms, but I have placed it here in hints and tips too, in the hope it will be of use to any concerned BEKO Fridge owners:

According toseveral sources I have checked, including the London METRO magazine ( http://www.metro.co.uk/news/868330-beko-fridge-freezers-fire-risk-warning-issued-to-homeowners-amid-recall) The MODEL numbers (not serial numbers) affected by the recall are as follows:

CDA543FX
CA5411FFS
CDA752FS
CDA645FW
CA5411FFW
CDA752FW
CDA647FS
CA5411FFX
CDA752FX
CDA647FW
CA7014FFX
CS460FF
CDA648FS
CA7015FFS
CS460FFS
CDA648FW
CA7015FFW
CS460FFSD
CDA653FS
CA7015FFX
CS461FFW
CDA653FW
CDA539FS
CS461FFS
CDA653FX
CDA539FW
CSA4706FFX
CDA659FS
CDA539FX
CSB4606FFS
CDA751FS
CDA543FS
CSB4606FFSD
CDA751FX
CDA543FW
CSB4606FFW

From what Ican ascertain, the fridges affected were manufactured between January 2000 andOctober 2006 (So, after shipping and sitting around in shops, you can probablyextend that margin to machines SOLD between 2000 and 2008)

If you go tothe BEKO website, there is a link to check your serial number:

https://refsafety.beko.co.uk/

I have tosay. Regardless of dates and matching serialnumbers, if I had an affected model,I would be checking with BEKO anyway!!

(And by theway I DO have a BEKO fridge freezer and I will be checking it out when I gethome!!)

Beko fridge bulb

Assuming you are not using a replacement bulb whose wattage exceeds the old one (or that shown on the information label near the bulb socket), you may have excessive or unbalanced line voltage in the home, which is often revealed by repeated blowing of bulbs, but which can lead to a fire.
If you suspect the latter, please contact an electrician or someone else who is knowledgeable right away to have it tested.
