Question about Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Vertical Deflection Failure

My Mitsubishi WT-46809 rear projection TV keeps turning off and when I try to turn it back on, it immediately turns off. I've unplugged it and verified that the microprocessor is functioning since the LED flashes three times. I then held down the Input & menu which indicated error code 24 - vertical deflection failure. Right now its not consistant. It happened and then stopped for sometime and now its back again. I have the service manual put I don't feel like its very clear as to what I need to do next. It has a great picture when it does work so I'd really like to repair it at this point. Can you help?

The vertical output IC may need re-soldering or it may be defective and need to be replaced. my guess would be bad solder on the vertical IC.

How to calibrate a mitsubishe ws 65809 tv

2,3 is deflection failure-----means something in or around the High voltage circuit has failed (what you saw before total failure was this kind of trouble)

This would likely mean not a do it yourself repair; Someone would have to have a schematic and begin testing voltages in that area of the set with a voltmeter.

My best advice would be either find a experienced repair man or consider replacement of the set.

Let me know if you have questions.

Mitsubisi wt-46809 will not turn on. i plug it in and it blinks 3 times then nothing. no error code when i hold menu and input

keep in mind if you unplug set it clears the error buffer.

Try to turn set on and if power light comes on and goes off then do the self check; menu and input for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

UNPLUG TV ANDTHEN PLUG BACK IN---TURNON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT ANDGOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

Before you rate this information let me know what you find.

Wt-46809 has convergance issues

Replacing the Convergence IC's should do the trick. But it is not a easy repair do to the disassembly requierments. I would recommend calling Mitsubishi at 18003322119 to get a local service facility to come out and give you a estimate to repair.

Mitsubishi wt-46809

the vertical deflection IC if defective will cause the protection circut not to let the tv power up ,it has a thermal protection circut as well
here is the vertical deflection IC # la78045
and here is a link for the NTE equivalent part and specifications and pin layout
http://www.nteinc.com/specs/7200to7299/pdf/nte7209.pdf WARNING if you heat up any component to long or with to hot of an iron you can dammage the component and or the thermal protection circut
but I believe you will also have to replace the flyback (high voltage transformer ) with wire giving to much voltage
