Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Noise when agitating

Washer started making horrible sound when agitating. There is no noise when spinning. I opened the front panel and noticed that the black rubber piece that used to be on the panel (to act as a buffer between tub and panel?) was missing. I located it at the bottom of the washer. Who knows what damage this might have done. Removing the rubber piece did not solve problem. I can't see anything that looks odd. Any ideas?

If it is whirlpool then skid plate could be out of place. Ge has a total different suspension system. black rubber could be the strap that restricts movement - 4 that attach from frame to tub ring.

Washer is making a horrible sound while draining water from tub

if horrible sound is while drainpump is draining but before washer starts to spin either obstruction in drain pump or impellar on pump is bad and the complete pump needs replaced... if noise is while spinning the spider support is cracked which is very exstensive repair and dont reccomend repairing unless you have a couple of hours for dissasembley and reassembley...

take off the front panel (after unplugging power) take a flash lite and look at the large pulley at the back just below the pulley is the helix check to see if they are worn .

Thumping/knocking/rattles during wash agitation cycle

Mine is doing the same thing. I opened it up to see what was happening and it was the drive belt tension arm bumping around. Soon, the belt started slipping during the spin cycle. Now it won't spin and the belt starts to smolder from the friction of the drive motor. If you haven't checked your belt, that's a good place to start.

How do you open up a ge wwwse3160aoww washer. the wash agitates fine but makes a lot of noise when it try to go to the spin cycle. it makes a bagging noise and spins slowly

Slip a putty knife or other thin object between the top and front panels a couple inches from each side. You should see the clip release from the top panel. Pull the front panel down from the top
