In the same boat. I've contacted Dell and gave him a good talking too. They sell the Kensington, advertised as compatible with XPS when it's not. It's false advertising and should refund you.

TIP MELTED

I know it's kinda lame, but you might be able to get something from Radio Shack. Something else to try is to look at a universal power supply. Some have interchangeable connectors and one might work. By the way, I saw in a store this weekend there are "generic" laptop power supplies that come with several different tips as well.

Broke the tip on my kensington power adapter for my laptop and can't find where to buy a new one with out buying the whole thing

I would be amazed if you could locate such a part. These are not sold, as it is expected that if a power adapter is damaged, it should be replaced. Sorry for the bad news, but you will need to buy a new adapter. If it is any consolation, it would not have to be the "brand name" version, but could be a compatible "generic" if you want to save some money.

Even if it were possible to replace one piece of an adapter, it would not be a good idea, given the amount of damage (catastrophic range) that would likely be done to your PC. Please post back if you need more help. Otherwise, thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Uninstall Mouseworks

check the net to see if there is a removal tool for Kensington Mouseworks ,or try going into safe mode then un install it.
if not ,it can be done in the registry but you need to be very careful, it is not for the faint hearted.

do not use the quotation marks " " shown ,when typing.
  • go to start button select "run",
  • type "regedit" in box
  • click on "edit"
  • then "find"
  • type in "Kensington Mouseworks "
  • any line with Kensington Mouseworks in it will be highlighted
  • check the line before hitting delete key
  • then hit enter(ok) to confirm delete
  • hit F3 to continue search
  • then follow the same procedure to the end
continue this till you get to the end of the registry it may take a long time.

again i stress you have to be very careful when playing around in the registry as it can give you a real headache if you delete something you should not have, even requiring you to re install windows

good luck
Terry
