Quicken will not let me into my files without a password and I have never had a password.

The above is for the programs and the below is for the internet website, I don't know which one you needed for sure, probably the above, please be more specific next time but clicking the above link will get your program working again which I think is what you want.

There are two types of passwords used in Quicken: a password for opening a data file (also known as 'file password') and a transaction password.
If both passwords are set, you will have to find the password for opening the file first; then you can recover the transaction password. In other words you cannot recover the transaction password if the file password is set.

It is possible to break the transaction password instantly. Fake Password will be constructed.

Unless your document was created in an old Quicken (prior 2001), the password for opening is much, much harder to break.

The universal recovery methods (Brute Force Attack, Dictionary Search and Smart Force Attack) must be used for that. Unfortunately, even a single password check takes a lot of computations, so the search speed will be very slow (not more than 1000 passwords per second).

This means that the recovery of even a relatively short password will take A LOT of time. Use our Password Calculator to estimate the recovery time.

How do I move a copy of Quicken from my desktop to my laptop.


Hi.
When you downloaded quicken, it should by default save to a sub folder named "Download" Depending on your PC's operating system, the download folder is normally found in the "My Documents folder" Click on the Start buttom (Windows) in the bottom left corner of the taskbar. Inside the Download folder should be a file with the name Quicken.exe. Copy the Quicken.exe file to a memory stick or flash drive, then stick in into the usb port of the other PC. Click on the Quicken.exe file and it will run the installation of Quicken on the second PC. Install Quicken the same way on the 3rd PC.

There is piece of software which is causing this problem you need to contact Quicken 2008 and get the setting changed to print , as the printer prints in other application ....

I just installed Quicken Starter 2009 for my wife's accounts. In the process I lost my own Quicken 2008 on the computer. I want both of them. What can i do to show both icons


Quicken Starter can coexist with QuickBooks, but not other versions of Quicken. Quicken Starter is intended for customers who do not have any version of Quicken already installed.

I programm trying to uninstall a program (quicken) to install a newer virsion and the older one will not come out


Quicken is one of the "friendlier" applications. Unless your hard drive is full, you don't need to uninstall the older one to install the new one. I suspect the uninstaller has failed. Without more detail, I can't help there. However, Quicken will install the new one and may even attempt to uninstall the old one itself. Regardless, you should be able to just install the new one and have it locate your existing data. Don't just delete the directory as you'll probably delete your data as well.

Well, if nothing else, this was some interesting research. Seems this is a re-occurring issue with Quicken, regardless of version used. Best information I've found was in this post on the Quicken forums:

1. Downloaded and registered Quicken Deluxe 2008 but did not receive ID and password info that I have previously done with Quicken. 2. Have done a download from bank on 2 accounts, then downloaded data...


That means that there end has had a problem. You will just need to wait until they get there servers working again.

New installation on Toshiba lap top. Unable to transfer data from Quicken 99 on IBM lap top. IBM did not recognize flash drive. Copied to email and sent from IBM. 3 messages below with attempts to add...


Try reinstalling Quicken 2008 after uninstalling it first via 'Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel. this should help.

Also check out THIS article on converting Quicken files to new versions and other info..It may prove to be quite useful..

As for the IBM Laptop not recognizing the flash drive, generally they come with a driver CD. Try installing that on the IBM and see. If you do not have the CD, you should be able to find the driver from the manufacturer's website, or do a google.

Backing up a Quicken file


This is probably due to an update. Quicken and quickbooks perform updates in the back ground on a frequent basis. The easiest way to take care of this problem would be to create a directory called backup on the flash drive and instruct quicken to backup to it.

Provided you're using windows XP, click on My Computer, select the icon for your flash drive, F: Right click and create a new folder and name it backup. In quicken when you go to backup, just change where it says F:\ to F:\backup

this should fix your problem. Please email back if you have any problems getting it to work.
