This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). They may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please see this link for more info.

Affected cameras with this problem include: A60, A70, A75, A80, A85, A95, A300, A310, S1 IS, S60, S230, S400, S410, S500, SD100, SD110, IXUS V2/V3/300/400/430/500/II/IIs, IXY Digital 200a/300a/320/400/450/500/30/30a
Ps. If you do this right now, you'll have your camera back from Canon quicker than you can believe. They're very fast on the turnaround.

    dottie,
I think you might be mistaken. Check it again, and I think you'll find that it only was stopped for four earlier model (A40, S200, S330, and S230) cameras. All the others on the list still apply.

Pictures are pink

Hi.

If pictures are pink and blurred shadow-like on all settings, both on LCD and on picture files, then you have a faulty CCD sensor.

The CCD sensor is the device that captures light to generate the digital picture.

Depending on the camera model number the CCD sensor fault is repaired at factory expenses. Call Nikon at the number listed on the owner manual, and find if the fault will be covered by recall.

If pictures are not blurred, but well defined and just kind of purple, then the green or blue channel is not working. In that case diagnosis requires testing to find out where the problem is.

Regards.

Blurred and pink pictures

CCD sensor faulty ( it starts with 'noisy' picture and ends with no image whatsoever ). The sensor should be replaced free of charge since properly manufactured one should last you 15 + years.
