I turn on my computer, the screen that says Acer comes on and it gives me the option to press F2 and go to the setup. If I don't go to the setup it continues to show a black screen with an _ at the top corner for a second then it goes away and the screen stays black and does nothing. The only thing I can do is go to the setup and I can't find anything to make it come on normally on the setup.
I have the same problem.. I went to reboot mine and the Acer Splash screen will pop up with the F2 Option and I can't do anything from there.. If I don't hit F2 it will go onto a black page.. ? I need my computer to atleast get to the start menu so that I can make recovery disks or something? Anyone know anything about it?

Re: My Acer Aspire 3000 has a blank screen
I suggest you check the settings of your bios. Normally this happens if your Hard drive is unreadable. Change the settings of the boot function to first boot on Hard disk and try to disable all other bootable hardwares like CD or network card.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it.
obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player.
Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB...
the hard drive and re-seat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key
during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key.
Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going
forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first.
Save and restart.
Hi junior 707
Try this solution to your problem.
Start your computer 1. Keep pressing "F1,F2 or F8" as the laptop computer starts.(Depending on your computer) This will start the computer in Safe Mode. 2. When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and confim by pressing the Enter key, then PC enters the Safe Mode. 3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen. Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank. 4. Then click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Select the account that is locked and change the password. 5. Restart laptop and login into the account you just created using your new password. Please take time to rate me thumbs up
Try upluging it, remove the battery, then press and hold the power button for 10 full slow seconds. Then wait 1 minute, put battery back in, plug back in and turn on. It should now come on and work fine.
Try to put an operating system boot disk in your drive then turn on laptop.
When the screen says press any key to boot from cd/dvd press a key.If it is vista when you do boot from cd it will give the option in the lower right corner to repair-click on this-select repair startup option.if that fails try a re-install of your op sys.

computer is on, immediately start to press F2 or DEL button in order to enter the BIOS and reset all settings to default. Most likely you turned
on the «Boot from network «option.
Log on to your computer with safe mode Steps 1. Start your computer 2. As soon as you see the first black screen when the computer starts , keep on pressing F8 You will see advanced options menu Select " Safe mode with net working" Now your computer will give you an option to log in with the administrator username You need to log in with Admin and then goto control panel and change the password for your username ...
If this does not work then plz reply back stating the Operating system you have like windows XP, vista , 98 , 2000 etc...
When you get in setup check the time and date and see if correct, if not; correct it and save settings and exit, then it should reboot.
If the time is correct and date then you will have to reboot the system and keep pressing F8 while its booting, this will take you into safe mode, you need then to choose last known good cofiguration and hit enter, hopefully you should now get into windows.
