Paper fed off try into the unit and rolled itself tightly around the roller inside, and there's no way to get access to the paper to pull it out.

i just printed regular paper and this is the second time that the paper has been jammed!! the directions on the screen tell me to remove the back of the printer...but the instructions don't even work! the paper is stuck in the middle of the printer...i have no idea how to get it out!!!

I put in a stack of about 15 typing paper, as usual. When I went to scan and print, it fed the entire stack into the printer! I can't see a way to open the back to remove it, so I carefully pulled it out from the front, and now the front green lights blinks and nothing else happens. How do I clear future paper jams, why did this happen, and what can I do to make this work again? Kate

To get a paper jam that can't come out of the back place your hand under the front panel and lift up both the scanner lid and the scanner base. This is where there is access to the ink cartridges. You can move the print head over to the right and pull out the paper.

On a HP photosmart 7960, for instance, there is on the back of the printer a large door than you can easily open by using the simple locking mechanism the door has. From there you should be able to reach any jammed paper.

Hope it helps.

There is access from the back of the unit. I accidentally found this out as there is nothing in the reference guide or even HP.Com that talks about it.

Remove paper jam

you MUST get the tiny paper out of the machine. It will make more jams for sure. If you do not have a manual or someone handy try looking up your printer model on the web for jam clearing advice at the location where the paper ripped. Usually there are numbers. Sorry!

Paper jam and still won't print

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Before you can clear the error message, you must locate where in the unit the paper is jammed.

Unplug the machine for safety. Now follow these instructions based on where the paper jam is located.

1. Pull the paper tray out of the machine.
2. Pull out the jammed paper.
3. Reset the machine by opening the Upper Jam Clear Cover and then closing it.

If you cannot remove the jammed paper from the front of the machine, or the error message still appears on the LCD after you have removed the jammed paper, please go to the next step.

4. Remove the Lower Jam Clear Cover from the back of the machine. Pull the jammed paper out of the machine.

5. Put the Lower Jam Clear Cover back on. Make sure the cover is set properly.

6. Open the Upper Jam Clear Cover. Make sure that there is no jammed paper left in the corners of the machine.
Note: If the paper is jammed under the print head, unplug the machine from the power source, then move the print head to take out the paper. 7. Close the Upper Jam Clear Cover.

8. Close the output paper tray cover and slide it forward, then push the paper tray firmly back into the machine. While holding the paper tray in place, pull out the paper support until it clicks and unfold the paper support flap.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
