In need of a plumber, I first picked a firm from the yellow pages. The "craftsman" they sent turned out to be anything but a plumber. The second, who was suggested to me by an employee of the building contracted that constructed our apartment building, broke the pipe he was attaching the faucet to: hadn't I insisted he investigate the suspect hissing sound, the damage would have been incalculable. He did install the faucet, but in the most incongruous of manners. The same employee who suggested the calamitous one, then suggested to send one of his workers. This one came by to assess the work and suggested to combine his visit with that of a tiler, since the tiling had had to be broken out to fix the pipe. Coordinating their agendas seems to be one hell of a problem, because it's now a good two months later and they've not managed it yet. My past recent experiences have made me afraid to cont(r)act a plumber for fear of what I might be exposed to. I'm really at a loss and don't know what to do.

So no real way to fix without damaging sound even more so buy a new one..

My volume button also broke (actually, the VOLUME UP function stopped working). Rather than trying to get the remote fixed, I found a different solution...
I reprogrammed the + key (bottom left of the remote) to be my new Volume UP function. You can do this by going to any of the activities you've already defined, and adding a custom button to the activity.
Choose the + button (it will probably not have an existing function), and tell it to use the Volume Up function of the component you normally use for volume. In my case, it was the Home Theater Receiver.
I hope that helps.

2 possibilities, either the connection coming out of the sub has gotten disconnected on the inside of sub or that channel is bad on your amplifier in the sub. The only way to know for sure is to open the sub up and ck.

If the buttons used to work then yeah it sounds like a hardware issue. You can go ahead and take the remote apart, but I don't think you will be able to fix it, unless you are good at soldering. Cleaning the contacts alone won't help. This same thing happened to the most used buttons on my Harmony One, and I just assigned the commands to the screen, so I could continue using the remote without those buttons.
If you want to try assigning the buttons to the screen, the steps in this article by Logitech will help:
