cd burner is no longer recognize. Error: No CD or DVD burner detected. Please tell me how to fix.

I can't find cd/dvd player we bought our gateway from best buy and the one of the geek their set our dvd burner which is a sony and but all was fine after a year which we got last year 5/07 and now i can't do anything i've check the hardward i have try to reset it and all i get back is(THIS DEVICE CAN NOT START ) (CODE 10) what is this and how can i fix it ?

Check your different jumper settings in the drive; Is your CD RW drive set in the proper setup as a slave or master drive; or as a single drive.Check in your bios, in the disk management section if your CD RW is detected.
