Xbox 360 says to play disc put it in an xbox 360 console

hi i wonder if you can help me. my xbox 360 console had this problem so i figured that it was the dvd rom so i ordered an exact copy from hong kong i just installed it today and it still says the same exact thing do you know what could be wrong with my xbox..

- My xbox 360 will play all of my games except for one. The only one that won't play is call of duty world at war. It goes to the DVD drive and on the screen it says "to play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console." It don't make sense to me unless its in the wrong format or something. It sure is a bummer though.- Guest

- I have the same Problem but if I take out the memory card where this game is saved and re-insert the dvd like 10 times, once in a while it starts the game. And then you can put back the memory card to load your saved game. Can't do that with the hard drive though. This is

note: when it doesnt read the game as one, it doesn't do the usual sound it makes cause the game runs faster than a DVD.- Guest

- same problem here,,, I replaced the whole dvd drive,,, now it will play music and dvds again but it will still not play a freaking xbox 360 game, I dont get it, it cant be the laser or the motor because its brand new, replaced. and the dashboard has always worked. so I am at a loss, anyone who has fixed this problem please help- venusdomina

Replacing the DVD drive on an XBOX 360 is not a simple swap out
The firmware on the drive needs to be updated. If you are getting "please put this disc in an xbox 360 to play" It could be because the firmware is not sending the correct information to the xbox. It is one of the many antipiracy anti hack security features of the 360. If you have updated your firmware and you know it updated properly I'm afraid I can't help. I've fixed a few with this issue and that's all it takes

The box isn't loading the decoder softwarer for the Disc. The Xbox discs are encoded HD DVD-ROM discs, and the box needs to recognize them so it can load the decoder software. It probably says "play dvd" on the xbox dashboard right?

my xbox is from europe but i'm from moldova and someone sait that i can play only original games but to play all the games i need to decode the xbox so maybe you have the same problem as me
