Hey SNH1,
There is software included with the camera installing this software should install drivers needed for your computer to recognize the camera. Also make sure the camera is turned on after you connect the camera to the computer.

Sincerely,
Allan

When you plug-in the camera into the USB port, what is the message?
Do you see any pop-up on the lower right hand side of the screen?

Usually the pop-up is "Device is ready to use" or USB device unrecognized if the USB is not recognized

I don't want to download the kodak software. just uninstalled it from my computer. How do I get my computer (xp) to recognize camera when inserting the usb?

Most cameras are simply found by Windows as a generic USB STORAGE device. But sometimes the manufacturer makes it so you 'must' use their special software unfortunately.
Just plug it in and if it does appear in Windows file explorer as a REMOVABLE DEVICE, then your ok, and can just go into that removable device and copy your photos to the PC.
If it starts requesting drivers :( then it could get more complicated, as Windows needs those right drivers to work with it.
Maybe you could try taking the camera memory care out and putting it in a standard USB MEMORY CARD READER ? (although I know that method isn't ideal for many users).

Tranfer of pictures to computer

As with all things USB, they cause headaches, go into device manager, remove & uninstall ALL USB devices and layers, ALL, then reboot, NOW wait until at desktop, re-install any software that came with camera, reboot, next time at desktop, NOW plug in your USB device, it may or may not ask for drivers, point it to them, where ever they may be, now when finished reboot, with USB still attached, next time at desktop you should be OK.

The computer don't recognizes the scanner

There are a few fixes here.

First did your computer pop up saying it found new hardware when you plug the usb cable in? If no try changing the usb cable.

Second, did you install via kodak disk or let windows install it? (You will need the kodak drivers located here.)

Finally, where are you trying to scan from? Also, have you checked to see that it shows a scanner installed in device manager (right click on my computer then click on properties)?

Let me know if this works.

My kodak easyshare c913 turns of when hooked up to usb

Try opening the Kodak software first, then turn the camera on. I've found that you need the Kodak program to transfer the pictures from the camera. I personally do not like this, my old camera (also Kodak) would act like a plane old flash card/removeable device, this new one doesn't.
Anyhow, I find it super easy to just take the SD card out and pop it into the media slot in my printer. Then just open explorer and it's there just like any other hard drive or CD/DVD drive and transfer them to where ever you like.
If your printer or computer doesn't have a slot for SD cards you can get one that plugs into a USB port, pretty cheaply at any store that sells computer products.

Kodak G610 prints from docked camera, but not from the computer

it is advisable to use a recomended usb cable for your printer dock. you can try also to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver on your computer. just simply follow this steps:

Remove the drivers that your operating system automatically installed on your computer:
-- On your desktop, select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes.
-- Remove all Kodak printers.
Right-click the printer icon.
Select Delete.
-- On your desktop, right-click My Computer, then select Properties.
-- Select the Hardware tab.
-- Click Device Manager.
-- In the Universal Serial Bus controllers list, right-click USB Composite Device, then select Uninstall.
note: make sure that the only device connected to your computer usb port is your G610 printer dock to make sure that the USB Composite Device that you uninstall is for your G610, most of the devices connected to you usb port has USB Composite Device also.
-- In the Imaging devices list, if any Kodak printers appear, right-click the Kodak device, then select Uninstall.
-- Disconnect the USB cable from your printer.
-- Restart the computer
-- Power Cycle the printer
-- once your computer is ready connect the G610 to your computer
-- check if you have a pop up window display on your computer informing you that your computer found a hardware device
-- you can go to printer and faxes and check if the G610 printer icon is on the list
-- try to make a test print

Verify that your computer is communicating with your printer:
-- Check that your printer is on.
-- verify if the USB cable meets your printer specifications.
-- Check that the USB cable and the power cord are securely connected to your printer and your computer.

Kodak i280 scanners

Check this out :

Possibilities:
1) One of your USB devices have faulted, or is causing a resource conflict (or similar)
-- Remove all USB devices, and reboot.
2) Your USB chip/ports have been damaged.
-- Find a spare HardDisk or bacjup your data and re-install Windows and see how that goes.
3) Your Power Supply Unit (PSU) isnt supplying enough power to your PC (usually caused by a Video card upgrade). Try a more powerful PSU ... 400watts should do the trick
4) Bad memory (RAM) can cause wierd problems. run memtest for an hour to make sure your memory is ok

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.
Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.
In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.
Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying .
Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.
Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;
1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)
2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.
3. USB Root Hub(s)
4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)
Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.
Hopefully some of this may be of help, let us know how you get on.

Please let me know if u got help and rate this SOLUTION AS FIXYA if ur problem is fixed!
