Question about Bissell 1699 ProHeat Clear View Upright Steam Vacuum

Please help! with my bissell proheat

I went to use my bissell proheat the other day (ive had it for about 3yrs) and it just made a really loud awkward noise and it started to smell like it was smoking. It was not sucking up any of the water once i sprayed it onto the floor as well. i replaced both belts after this and the problem is still not fixed. I made sure the flow indicator was clear of lint as well as the filter inside the water tank. do you have any idea what might be wrong and if its even worth fixing?

My Bissell proheat worked great for the first few months. I went to use it the other day and the noise coming from it was so loud i couldnt hear myself think. Ive replaced the belts, cleaned the tubes and whole system where ever possible. Ive flushed the bladder bag and the solution tank still no luck. I wanted to return it but no box and no reciept. I was told it can cost almost 130.00 just for new motor if that is the problem, which is stupid because the machine all together was 180.00. Is thier any other way to fix this?

Depends on what kind of smell, if it is electrical, then the motor is probably the problem. If rubber or plastic, then it could be the brush roll, did you inspect the brush roll ends? Try to turn the motor shaft to see if is turning or froze up. If froze up, then the motor is bad. If it is the motor, you would lokk at maybe $110 to $125 for a repair, parts and labor.

Check the underside where the drive belt comes off the electric motor. Maybe something got wound up on the motor pulley if you are lucky.
If you aren't lucky it could be the bearing is out and the motor is just screaming and overheating...soon to seize up
If you do need a new motor, there are some repair videos on YouTube:

Bad Pump. You pump is where the belt attaches to spin the brushes and also puts water on the floor. Take it to you local Best Buy to be serviced or a local appliance shop which may service it.

If it is completely dead, then either a bad cord, switch, motor, or a broken connection, it will have to be taken apart to find the problem.
