It sounds as if the aspect ratio is not set properly. On the original remote there is a button labeled "aspect".

i think you should call them first, time warner, i don't see any problem with your unit.you try evrything and only this time warner is the only problem.they are sending incompatible tv formats.
First of all, you need to reset your device, and replace the configurations to a factory settings, this make the things easier.
2nd: to set a picture to wallpaper the picture need to respect the characteristics of the display, and the image need to math the display size. in your case 240 x 240 and must be in JPG format.
you have to go into the menue, and go under video settings, under advanced, then into convergence, when you get the white lines all over the screen, follow the directions and adjust the red so it lines back up, other wise , take the front bottom panel off the tv, look for the 6 little nobs, look at the ones on the left, they should agjust the red, thrn the top one untill the red is focused back in.
