Our player which is a few years old just started this same behavior. At first I thought it was the DVD's from NetFlix, but each time we take the DVD to our old APEX player, it never encounters this freezing problem.

When power is supplied, the front panel says WAIT for a moment and then goes black. Unit will turn on with remote. I get a TV program picture on the TV for about 2 seconds and then the TV goes black (I can see where the picture would be, so I think the unit has power on the output, just no content. The front panel shows 00:00:00. The unit freezes and will not respond to the remote or buttons. I must remove poer to reset.

My DVD is was rarely used until recently and now when we try to use it it freezes up and show multicolored vertical lines on the tv. The only way to unlock it is unplug the unit and restart it, but the same thing happens and in various spots of the DVD.

I suggest the garbage can. I bought my husband the DVDR05 and it has not worked from day one. It will play about 15 minutes and then freeze up. We have read the book to see if it was something we did wrong. We finally shut off the tv and turned the player on before turning the tv on and we got half way through a movie that way. It is very upsetting.

I called tech support on this DVD player, and they had the solution. you have to reset the unit, but the way you reset the unit is quite unusual! You open the cover of the DVD, not the view screen but the cover of where you insert the DVD itself for playing, and then plug it into the wall and turn it on with the battery removed and the cover open, and leave it that way for at least six hours. The unit will work normally afterwards, just turn it off and back on and try it out. Mine plays now just like it used to. Seems like they could have supplied a hidden reset switch to save time but they didn't. Amazing...

I had the same problem with an relatively new DVD player (driving me nutz!) and searched all over the net for a solution. What worked for me was to open the DVD drawer and blow as hard as I could into the opening to dislodge any dust affecting the lens. Worked perfectly-- my player stopped freezing. Have played 3 movies since it started working again. I suppose a hair dryer would work even better but I was too lazy to go upstairs to get one. Good luck!

Logik freeview no signal

freezing is a sign of poor signal , if you connect to cable , try a DVD player if the picture still freeze that mean the TV is bad and has to be returned and replaced. if the picture is good with DVD player as your service provider to give you a better service by boosting the signal

Dvb t vcr/dvd recorder drvt 43 freezes after being plugged in

I have the same problem. Telephoned Daewoo and they said that there was a download available that will fix it. Unfortunately, the contol keeps freezing so I can't do this. Therefore, I have contacted the retail supplier and they are sending a replacement and also letting me have relevant info to send the defect one back. Hope this helps.

Player suddenly freezes

Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).

The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)

Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:

Player freezes at same time on almost every disk, and recorder programs won't play on anything else.

The last problem is probably because you have not ?finalized? the DVD yet. Basically what that does is modify how the data is stored on the DVD so that a normal DVD player can read it. It also prevents you from modifying or recording to the disk any more so make sure you?re done before performing this. The part about the freezing is more complex, are these commercially recorded DVDs or something someone else recorded?
