If the battery contacts are dirty (like from a leaking battery). I use a q-tip with water first (maybe a little vinigar). Then wipe with sink cleanser or toothpaste (for the abrasive value). Best of luck! ...if really corroded I use a knife.

The flash on my Panasonic DMC-FZ100 doesn't work, I've tried 'forced flash' and thats not working either?

Hello Ray, This is not something a user wants to attempt !!! The camera really needs to be repaired by a tech. You will do more harm than good by trying to fix it yourself and will cost even more if you damage something.

Best Regards, Russell

Do I need to buy film to use this kind of camera?

Vivitar makes many cameras. Some use 35 mm film and some are electronic. I believe yours is an XM 1K type:

You can click brilliant outdoor photos even in low-light condition aided by the f/4.5 aperture of this Vivitar film camera. Moreover, the Vivitar XM1K point and shoot film camera effectively removes the red pupils from the subject's eyes caused while using the flash, thanks to the red-eye reduction feature. Further more, this Vivitar film camera, supporting autofocus, lets you focus erratically moving objects with precision. What's more, with a four-mode electronic flash, this Vivitar camera lets you choose the flash mode to suit your requirement.

How do i get the flashed turned on

First, check to make sure you're not in the macro mode. There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the SD card slot. Slide the switch away from the flower toward the mountain to take it out of macro mode. The flash won't fire in macro mode.

Then, if the flash still doesn't fire, take a look at the flash mode. Press the up-arrow button to bring up the flash menu. If it's currently set in the lightning-bolt-in-a-circle-with-a-slash-through-it symbol, you've got the flash turned off. Set it to the lightning-bolt-and-"A" for automatic flash or the lightning-bolt for forced flash.

If the flash still doesn't fire, then it's broken.

You can't fix it. The camera is so cheap, it doesn't have a built-in microphone....so, silent movies.

Need a new battery for Vivitar Vivicam 8300S Digital Camera

I bought a replacement battery for my Vivtar 8300s today at Batteries Plus. If there isn't one near you, go to their website: www.batteriesplus.com Cost was $17.95; they may have to order it from their supplier in New York, but the battery is in their product list. It's Empire model BLI-315.

It's because the batteries aren't strong enough. You are probably using alkaline batteries, which are not recommended for digital cameras because they drain easily and quickly. Use nimH batteries.

My camera has a black screen even when is on

It does not look good.
Here are some problems which could be with this camera:
LCD broken or bad.
CCD problem.

Since you go have some light on the green light, then that appears to be a LCD problem. this can happen if the camera had an impact to cause the LCD to be damaged or disconnected in some way.
For further help:
Go to:
http://vivitar.com/en-us/Support.aspx
Ask for your model.
