We had the same problem and you won't believe what the actual problem is!!! When you plug the USB plug into the keychain device or whatever device you are using (in our case it was a keychain), make absolutely certain that the plug is pushed in all the way (it is tough to push in) until it actually clicks and all you see is the black part of the USB plug. Then try your software. It should work!!!
