  • chanchan59 Apr 22, 2008

This is not my first cartridge I have installed...I have had that printer for around 4 years...and never experienced any problems before...you do not seem to be familiar with the Canon Pixma 1500...because you do not refill the cartridges.

  • chanchan59 Apr 22, 2008

    Yes I have. Thank you!

  • chanchan59 Apr 22, 2008

    Done that about 25 times!

  • chanchan59 Apr 22, 2008

I think you might be right...it just came to me...When I purchased the cartridge, I opened the package and the sealing it was in and let the cartridge out and did not put it in the printer right away...and I mean not right away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...More like many days out in the open!!!!!So yes I believe that the ink is dry....now can I remedy to that bad situation???Excuse my English but I am French Canadian!!!

Was this a new cartridge or did you re-fill? Make sure the cartridge was installed properly. Make sure you do not touch the copper contacts. If you did wipe GENTLY with alcohol. Did you remove the protective tape from the print nozzles?

Carefully set it in some hot water being careful not to get the contacts wet. When you see that ink is seeping from the cartridge wipe it of and try it again.

Another method is to put a wet cloth in the microwave to get it hot and let the cartridge set on that until ink begins to seep. May require a couple of tries.

What I would recommend you to do is to uninstall the device from your computer, restart the computer and then reinstall the printer.that should easily fix the problem you are having..and also if you cant locate your Cd, I was able to find a site where you can obtain the driver for your printer...

Did you reset the ink count?
To do this:
1 Open the Printer Properties dialog box and click the Maintenance tab.
2 Click Ink Counter Reset.
3 Select the newly installed ink tank, then click OK.

    Take a q-tip and windex

Clean the bottom of the head with the q-tip after saturating it in windex.

    Blot on paper towel

Keep doing this till you see black ink

Then install and run another cleaning.

    OR

you can sit it in a shallow dish of really warm water.

    Good Luck.

also try removing the ink cartridge and re install ok let me know what happens ok

  • paul proctor Apr 22, 2008

hi i asked you if it was genuine or not but as you mention you have done this many times it sugests your using your usual cartridge but now we know it was out of the packet for some time this would only dry up if the protective film was removed from the bottom where the contacts are. Other reasons could be exposure to heat or direct sunlight this would cause it to dry.

Cyan not printing on canon mg5350 ?

Hey everyone, thanks for the helpful comments. Black and white are working for me but none of the rest are. I've replaced all the cartridges with new ones and I've tried a deep clean but nothing is working. The printer is only a few months old and I use it a few times a week but not too often. Any suggestions?

I haven't used my canon pixma for a few weeks, came to use it again and the 3e black cartridge won't work, (tried printing from computer and copying) have done a clean, deep clean and nozzle check, even...

The black print head is clogged. The reason why the black is clogged and not the photo black or any colors is that the black is pigment ink and the photo black and colors are dye based ink. The pigment ink is a particulate formulation that binds up when water is evaporated out of the ink. You need to buy a new print head the fix the problem. You can buy a new print head for $75 from precision roller.com.

Mp960 color prints ok but black and white not printing

When was the last time you printed in color? New ink printers are built so with a "use it or lose it" theme. The print heads are now built into the machines and are not generally replaceable. Yours luckily is, but I don't know how easily. The link below is to the replacement which costs $130 + shipping. Sometimes it can be just as worth it to buy a new machine, in this case I would probably prefer to repair the damaged machine as the new printer cartridges cost more and have less ink.

Our Mp760 just decided it would stop printing. It will still run as if printing but there is no ink. We changed the ink cartridges and still no luck. A few of the items on the page print if they are color...

Are you using OEM cartridges or aftermarket/reloaded cartridges. Your problem sounds like the nozzles are clogged and need to be deep cleaned. To perform this you need to put in new OEM cartridges and run the deep cleaning (at least 3x) and the alignment utility. This should clear the clogged nozzles.
Aftermarket/refilled cartridges do not always meet the manufacturer's specifications for quality. If you want to try a good source for aftermarket cartridges, try cartridges from LDproducts.com for your printer. I've never had a problem with their aftermarket cartridges.
Please rate this solution. Thanks.

Wont print

I had this problem recently with my IP90. Both the black and color heads were clogged. After running the "canned" routines several times to clean the heads and deep clean the heads...still didn't help...here's what I did:

1. open the top lid to have the cartridges that are inserted in the print head move to the middle of the printer.
2. remove both cartridges
3. What is left there is the print head holder. Slightly move it to the right and gently lift the print head lock.
4. Grasp the print head and lift it out of the tank.
5. Have several paper towels hand and know that you will have color and bw ink on your fingers
6. Put the print head on the paper towel
7. Pour rubbing alcohol on the blk and color heads and let them sit of about 10-15 minutes.
8. after that dry the heads and re-insert them in the printer
9. I put new cartridges in the printer and ran clean and deep clean a few times.
10. My color and black and white print came right back!

Hope this helps.

NOT PRINTING COLOR

I have the same problem.  At first I thought the printhead clogged but dipping it in solvent did not work.  I guess the only thing we could do is to buy a new print head, but at the cost it's going at, we might as well get a new printer.  Other than that try sent a RMA.
