They ar located in the slot where the memory goes. I have used electronic contact cleaner with a thin "make-up" swab.

Where is the fuse located in a Fuji s3100 camera?

Sorry, did did not put in any fuse in this camera. When it does not start up, check the battery, if it still holds some charge and the contacts, both on the battery and in the camera. All contacts should be clean and shiny. Only clean with a dry cloth or cotton swabs. NO SHARP tools.

Nikon d5000 says lens not fitted

Still make sure you did turn the lens till it clicks.
You could remove the lens, and clean all contacts both from the camera and the lens, with a dry and clean cloth. Don't use any sharp tool in or close by a camera.
After cleaning, refit the lens. If the error comes back, try another lens, to locate if the lens has an error, or the camera does.

I have error code #99 on a canon eos 30d

Error 99 is Canon's default for several "connection" problems most common are dirty contacts between the lens and camera body. Another is the contacts in the battery compartment both the camera and the battery contacts should be cleaned.

The camera might not be able to read the memory card, download the pictures to your computer and format the memory card don't delete them format the card this function is found in the set up menu.

Formatting is one of the most important functions to keep the camera and memory card communicating AND is the most neglected function. Always format a new memory card and always format a memory card after downloading pictures to a computer. Format a memory card if it's been in another camera.

Cleaning the lens and body contacts can be done fairly easily with a clean pencil eraser, don't use a puffer on the body as you will blow dirt into the camera. With the lens removed hold the camera as much as possible with the lens opening pointed down and gently polish the gold contacts. Do the same with the lens contacts make sure both areas are clean and re install the lens to the body.

Possibly the most important "fix" is to update your camera's firmware. Go to Canon's web site (it can be a bit intimidating at first) and search through until you find the firmware updates for your camera. Download this generally they want you to download to a memory card then place the card into the camera and upload the new firmware updates.

The Canon 30D (in my opinion) is one of the best no frills, greatest working DSLR cameras Canon produced. Not saying the model's beyond are not it's just the 30D isn't loaded down with video functions. Great all around working camera, sorry my rant for the day.

Cheers have fun with your Canon 30D

My camera did not read the memory stick

Remove the ,memory and have it inserrted into the card reader of your PC, if not detected check if the contacts are bad, clean and try, if not th acard is faulty. I f detected, remove all photos to new location and format.
now it must recognise on your camera or check the contacts.

I can't download photos to my pc anymore. I uninstalled it, in hopes to be able to re-install it.

What make and model is your camera? you can check the following:

- the memory card is firmly in place, contacts are clean
- batteries are fully charged
- contacts of the cable are clean
- cable is in good shape (you could try with a new cable)
- re-install software
- try downloading with a card reader.

The problem you describe is frequently due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe the ends of the batteries and replace them in the camera. This clears up the problem about 90% of the time -- I hope it works for you.

It could be something more serious, or as simple as inserting fresh/fully charged batteries, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinsert them in the camera. This cleaning cures the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

It was working one minute then the next it kept shutting off

John,

Generally, this is a battery issue. Check the battery and make sure that all contacts are clean (inside the camera and on the battery itself). You can do this by using a pencil eraser to clean the contacts. If this doesn't work, try charging the battery for a full 24 hours. If this doesn't work, take the battery to a location that services batteries. If the battery checks out, go into the camera and look for the reset button, which is similar to those located on phones or other electronic devices. This will set the camera back to factory specs and may clear the issue up. If this doesn't work, take the camera to a repair shop, or, if it's still under warranty, send it back to Kodak for evaluation. Generally, if the camera is under warranty, this is free.
