SOURCE: Can't remove dryer blower wheel

I would start by taking off the top and checking the belt to see if part of it tore and is hitting the inside of the cabinet. I have not found a real good way to get the blowers out without having to break them sometimes. the part of the blower that you have to hold is access through the front behind the motor. problem is when you turn the motor shaft, the wrench strips out on the blower, then you have to break them, but unless you need a new motor, it should not have to come off.

On this weird dryer the blower is not mounted to the motor. Instead a fancy blower is mounted away from the dryer and requires a second smaller belt to drive it. What goes wrong? The drive pulley for the blower often falls off the motor. Locktite is recommended to keep the blower pulley secure to the motor shaft or this will be the result:

Motor heats up and stops running how do remove

The blower fan on this model has reverse threads where it screws onto the motor shaft. At the small space between the motor and the rear wall of dryer you will see that the blower wheel has a square neck that will allow you to hold it stationary with a large crescent wrench. while holding the blower grip the pulley on the front of the motor with another wrench (or channel locks) and turn the motor shaft clockwise to break the blower loose. Sometimes a quick motion is better to free it as it may be on the motor threads pretty tight.
Good luck on this!

How do you get the motor off of a whirlpool dryer? We are trying to replace the bulkhead, but can't get the motor and blower separated

The blower will be held to the motor shaft by one or two allen set screws. Loosen these screws and the motor will pull out. the blower fan will drop down so make sure you can somehow hold it while you pull the motor away. Obviously unbolt the motor from the chasis.

Hope that helps.

How do I remove the pulley from the motor of my Hoover 5010D dryer to put onto a new motor?

Take a big tough wrench and put on shaft next to blower wheel. Now place a big tough wrench on the slotted place on the blower wheel. A place for a wrench is located on the blower wheel where the motor shaft goes into the wheel. Now holding one, try turning the other. Make sure you don't have one that has reverse threads. There are some models that do have them. They drive me crazy trying to determine which it is. They are normally real tight. About 1/3rd of the time I end up having to bust the blower to get it off. Although try not to if you don't have to because this is a part that seems to never go bad.

Pulley on alternator comes loose

souds to me as though the bolt is shot, and possibly the thread in the shaft. If this has happened again after correct attention you should be seriously looking to strip and rebuild, even Locktight wont heal "wobbly gear shafts".

Kenmore 70 series dryer making loud rattling noise, drying ok

it could be a worn motor bearing, but they usually last for 20 years, i would guess that you have a worn drum roller, the thing that holds up the drum and looks like a wheel.
if your sure the motor has a worn bearing then replacing the motor is not easy as you have to unscrew the blower wheel from the motor shaft.
it also may be that you are talking about the idler pulley being worn. it is the device that holds tension against the belt and they also will wear out and be "wobbly"

Gallery gas dryer

one of 2 ways, diagram wasnt very helpful. the blower wheel either is threaded on the motor of is held on with a clamp. the clamp obviously undo and the motor will slide out, if its threaded look closely around fave of wheel you will see the words remove, with arrows if the direction to turn. Some are reversed thread. in which case you need to hold opposite side motor shaft with correct size wrench and unscrew from front( you wont have to completely remove the blower from housing it'll come forward enough to remove.the motor itself is held in by 2 plastic hold downs one in front and behind the motor.
