I cant dissable my default settings to allow windows media player to run, it has always worked previous to installing mcafee security system! could this be the problem and how do i fix it? Thanks

Try completely disabling the antivirus software, firewall, etc. and see if media player will run. If it does then you answered your own question.

If not go to control panel, add or remove programs, and add or remove windows components, make sure the box for windows media player is checked and click next to reinstall.

I suggest you to install the latest version of the Flash Player.

Before that, uninstall any older versions you currently have running on your computer.

if not resolve your problem, try these options

- temporarily disable popup blocking software installed on your computer to test.
- allow YouTube.com as a trusted site in your Firewall software.
- ensure other applications like Quicktime, iTunes, Real Player, or Windows Media Player aren't set as the default streaming application, as this might affect the video player.
- make sure your computer is set up properly for Flash

I have windows defender as well as mcafee anti virus is this a good thing? also i can get free security on virgin media would this be as good as mcafee when the current subscription runs out?


Generally you can leave Windows Defender on but yes, a real antivirus is recommended. Both Mcafee (from personal experience) and Virgin Media Security (from the reviews I've read) tend to slow your computer down or be ineffective. If you want a free solution, go for Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/
or AVGfree, although AVG is also a resource hog. If you don't mind paying for quality, Eset NOD32 is the best and most lightweight you'll find. http://www.eset.com/
Avira is also a good choice, but I personally recommend ESET.

Try this :

Windows with Internet Explorer
To make sure you are using a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
  1. In Internet Explorer's Help menu, select Help > About Internet Explorer. (In some versions of Internet Explorer, select the question mark in the upper right corner to select About Internet Explorer).

I can't download adobe flash player, I think it has something to do with my flash card witch is not working either I downloaded various things from toshiba site BIOS, Utilities, and a flash card compatible...

Unable to do download any media files


Sometimes AntiVirus software, even from names like Norton and McAfee, falsely detect good software as a dangerous download. If the player is NOT brand new, never-been-used, and fresh out of the box, then I would format the mp3 player first to make sure that there really isn't a virus on it. If it is brand-new, then you can either turn off the McAfee or change the settings (temporarily) which lead to automatically remove threats - make sure to reactivate this setting once the software is installed. Alternatively (perhaps even a better solution) - you can download a clean version of the software from iRiver's website - their support is fairly good - just click the Plus 3 link on their new, simplified website.

Flash 9 freezes after 1st. video plays on The Fan.

Before you install Shockwave Player for any Windows browser, uninstall all previous versions.
In order to remove the Shockwave player, simply use the file UNWISE.EXE located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11. Windows users can also use the Add/Remove programs located in the Windows control panel. This will remove the Shockwave 10 player
For the Shockwave 8 and 8.5 there is an uninstaller available from the Web Players page.
Note: All applications must be closed before you run the Shockwave Player uninstaller. Quit all running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, and all Instant Messenger clients. Windows Media Player is a feature of the Windows operating system and cannot be removed entirely. However, depending upon which version of the Player and Windows that you are using, you might be able to roll back to the version of the Player that was previously on your computer. The procedure varies depending upon which version of the Player you are running.

If your computer is running Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 SP3, or Windows 2000 SP4, you can use the Set Program and Access Defaults feature to remove links to the Player on your computer. Note that this does not remove the Windows Media Player software. To remove access to the Player, do the following: 1.

Sansa C250 not recognised


The Sansa C250 doesn't have a setting on the player to put it into USB, or MSC mode.

By default, it's always in MTP mode (Microsofts slow and crappy DRM enabled protocol).

You can force the player to connect to your computer by doing these 3 things:

1. Ensure that your player is OFF.

2. Set the Hold slider to LOCKed.

3. While holdind the "<<", (LEFT or Previous) button down, connect the c250 to your computer via the USB cord.

You should now see 2 new drives in your "My Computer" window. One drive is the c250's internal memory, and the other is it's microSD slot.
