This problem is commonly attributed to a water inlet valve leaking by or a pressure switch malfunction. The following link explains how to diagnose the problem:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3753262-front_load_washer_fills_when_not_in_use

If you live in an area that has hard water, or if you use well water, the water inlet valve can clog with sediment, rust, or calcified deposits over time and cause the valve not to close properly. This can cause leak by when not in use.

The pressure switch has a small air hose attached that, if it becomes detached or has any holes in it, will cause the pressure switch to malfunction. This can also result in a washer that fills when not in use, but will also cause the washer to overfill in most cases.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you need further assistance. I have included parts resources and procedures on how to replace each part in the link. If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Whirlpool, and other frontloaders have an inherent problem- They all have shaft seal and bearing problems. When water and corrosive soap residue sits and dries aroung the tub shaft , it can corrode the aluminum center block ruining the seal and bearing. Reach in and try to spin the tub by hand. If you hear grinding noises and if you lift on the inner tub, with lots of upward give and clicking sounds then you have a broken yoke; a very common problem.

My washer sometimes ends up with a couple inches of water in the tub a day after last used. Also, at times water leaks on the floor. Neither of these things happen consistently.

It is likely that the fill valve located inside the rear panel is leaking, especially if you leave the supply lines turned on all the time. One annoying fix is to turn off the water supply after each laundry session but than you have to remember to turn the water on again next time

No water entering dishwasher. seems to cycle but with now water.

open the dishwasher in the tub on your left bottom you will see a large plastic bubble lift the bubble (float) up and, down vertically, listen for a "click" the float sits above the water fill switch: the float's weight causes a pin on the float to press down on the switch to let water in the float sometimes can get stuck in the up position by debris and, prevent the fill switch from letting in water. When the float is lifted by the water in the tub to a predetermined height the pin comes off the fill switch lever and, turns off the water so that the dishwasher tub does not overflow. check this please.

Where do the knobs and faucet sit on the Sheriday drop in model?

I am not a plumber, but I do work on a lot of tubs. On most drop in tubs, the spout and water control valves are usually mounted on the decks of tubs, usually on the same side the drain is located (with the exception of center mount drains). Very few controls are mounted on the actual drop in tub unless they are already predrilled for them. Hope this helps.

CROSLEY CAH4205AWJ FRONT LOADER WASHER

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I thought I'd put an "answer" in here in case someone else stumbles across this post when trying to figure out what is wrong with their washer.

I'm not sure how to put it in service mode, but the problem is likely with your water pump. This pump pulls all of the water out of your machine before it goes into spin mode. If the pump doesn't engage then the washer won't spin. You likely need a new pump. They usually cost around $50 and are pretty easy to install. But if you have standing water in your machine, then you are going to have a mess when you pull the hose off to disconnect the pump. I'd suggest having a shop vac handy to **** up all the water as it comes pouring out of the Tub to Pump Hose. A towel isn't going to cut it. You're going to have lots of water that you don't want all over your floor.

Bleach is spilling directly on to clothes

I have the same problem and here is the reason and the solution. When you add bleach it sits in the dispenser until the rinse cycle. During the rinse cycle the machine pours a lot of water through the dispenser. The bleach is diluted and washed out with all this water into the tumbler and you clothes are rinsed with bleach. Sometimes when this rinse happens, the water does not completely drain from the bleach dispense. It sits in there. If this happens, the next time you add bleach, there is too much liquid in the dispenser and it leaks out onto your clothes.
Solution: Before you add bleach, take the whole dispenser out and see if there is a lot of water still standing in the bleach dispenser section. If there is a lot of water, spill it out into a sink. Then fill the dispenser with your bleach and it will all work out the way it should. I was having your same problem until I discovered this. I have never had the problem since.
