Remove power, remove the battery, remove the bottom cover that covers a small quarter sized battery (bios) wait 1/2 hour plug in the bios battery and, the power supply restart the computer. then: put the main battery back in. that should clear the password.
if it happens again: replace the bios battery.

the bios battery should look like a black plastic covered quarter-sized disk there should be a tiny plug
going into the motherboard from it; just pull out the plug carefully and, you will have "removed" the bios battery.

As per the instructions from toshiba website below:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/...
you will need to send your laptop in to toshiba to have the bios flashed as your laptop can not be repaired by you.
this will cost you nothing as this is a well known problem with this laptop model; and, toshiba has agreed to this recall for service.

You need to contact toshiba support / repair dept. at the website address I gave you; tell them that you have the bios recall problem they will give you a: return order number; you will then:
package your computer in either a box they send you or, a postal box; pack everything except your power supply in bubblewrap and, send the computer in per their instructions.
you removed the correct battery please put everything back you removed before you send the computer in for service.
I rather like your spontaneous tumultuous outbursts of humor...they serve you well!

    thank you for using fix'ya
and, if I helped you please give me 4 thumbs up!

Hello, I have good news as well as some ok news. I know EXACTLY what is wrong with your computer. Take this link: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=1852724&rpn=PSAFGU&modelFilter=A215-S7422&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663#
to the Toshiba Model Support Page. Click the SUPPORT BULLETINS Tab and Go To PAGE TWO. Click the one that says: Incorrect power-on password prompt -- with older BIOS versions . Read It Carefully and follow the instructions. Your repair will cost you NOTHING.

after i did the restore it had to restart and went into the boot menu and somewhere in that process i had to create a password which then required a restart again to coming back on a black screen and a blue rectangular box for me to enter password, it comes back invalid when im the one who created the password , it will only give me 3 trys and then shuts off, when it back on, i cant get past this screen for anything, no icons no commands,so therefor i cant restore back to box,i need the bios password n i cant understand how i got to this problem, ugh lol

Toshiba a215 bios password then prompted for hdd password space bar enter didnt work

BIOS passwords can be reset or removed in two ways:

1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting or removing using software, here are two software apps to reset or retrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.
You can download it here:
http://www.syschat.com/download120.html&act=down

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools
http://majorgeeks.com/CmosPwd_d239.html

You will need to create a bootable Dos, or Linux or NT cd in order to run them.

Good Luck!

Hi gv2jae..

Start up your computer
1. Keep pressing "F8" as the laptop computer starts.
2. When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and confim by pressing the Enter key, then PC enters the Safe Mode.
3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
4. Then click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Select the account that is locked and change the password.
5. Restart laptop and login into the account you just created using your new password.

My Toshiba A215-S5818 Shows up enter password

Hello,

The problem can be due to incorrect power on password prompt. This problem is noticed with some older BIOS versions. The system is looking for a non-existing power-on password.

The only solution for this is to send the system back to Toshiba. They will repair this problem free of cost.
