Hi,

  1. Configure your jumpers for the drive's position. Your options are Cable Select (if your drive and computer support it), Master or Slave. If the drive will go on the end of the IDE ribbon cable, then it will be a Master; if it goes in the middle, it will be the Slave.
  2. Mount your IDE hard drive into a drive bay. Make sure you use all four screw spots so your drive can spin securely.
  3. Mount your IDE hard drive into a drive bay. Make sure you use all four screw spots so your drive can spin securely.
  4. Connect your power supply to the drive. IDE drives use a 4-pin power connector and any of them from the supply will work.
Note : you can also click on the link below to see few detailed instructions and photos on installing IDE cable. http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/install-hard-drive.htm

Good Luck!

Will an IDE DVD Burner work on my Acer Aspire E380 desktop. The hard drive is a SATA but the burner looks like an IDE and has belt cables. I need to replace my DVD burner and not sure what type of burner...

Yes, all you need is a IDE (Pata) to IDE (Sata) converter.

If you're replacing it, just make sure you get one with the correct interface, judging by what you sat SATA.
