Connecting customizer/designer to 180 Bernina Embroidery sewing ?

It has been awhile since I used the embroidery with the customerizer/designer, and I am not sure how to connect to the computer. I am also having trouble getting the letter or object to the computer to change it?

Usually the connection method is slightly different from embroidery system to system. Some devices are connected by USB directly to the PC while others are connected to a memory card. What make and model is the embroidery machine and the customizer?
If there is no means to connect to the computer to change the design already on the machine then you system must be one of those where you need to make the design in Customizer, save it and put it on a memory card. This memory card will then be put into the embroidery machine and the machine will sew directly from the card. Any further clarifications are welcome.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

With embroidery card inserted into module, no motifs appear on the display screen.

Here are two other possibilities other than electrical problems with your Bernina. There are embroidery design cards that were made for the 200 & 730 that simply do not work in a 180. There is nothing marked on the card or the packaging that will tell you what model machine the card will work in. I sold a bunch of my design cards on eBay last winter and I tested all of them in both a 730 and a 180 before making the ad discription. I found that most of the design cards worked in the 180 & 730, but there were a few that only worked in the 730. So if your design card is one of those that won't work in a 180, that could be your problem.
You did not say if you have other design cards that do work or there is only one you tried. Possibly the card itself is bad.
A static shock to the card could possibly damage it.
So if you take your machine to a dealer to have it looked at, take your design card along.
The 180's memory for storing designs is located in the embroidery module, not the machine itself. If that memory is filled up with other designs this can cause a problem.
So your problem is most likely with the design card or with the embroidery module. Should you need to get another embroidery module, that module needs to be the same version number as your machine or it will not work. I have a. video posted on YouTube that shows you how to check the version number of your machine and module. That information is in my "Bernina check hours 165, 170, 180, 185" video. Put that in the YouTube search box and you will find my video. Plus I have other helpful Bernina videos posted.

How can I purchase a hard drive for a Bernina 180 Embroidery Machine. The authorized Bernina Repair man can install it?

Don't think they offer that nor was it an option. They have a serial interface to download or upload designs to or from the machine's embroidery option. Check out a USB to Serial onverter and connect the PC to the machne. I used a Dynex brand cable and it worked. Use Bernina'a Artlink software (it;s free) and connect that way. Very easy to use.

If you bought the embroidery unit with the machine, I would try to take it back to the place of purchase & ask for a sewing tech to check the machine & unit for you.
I recently had a similar issue with my machine-took it to a local bernina agent & within a week, it was back in my sewing room, at no cost to me. I hope this helps you, & yes I have a 180 with the embroidery unit like you mentioned
