The air bag light has stayed illuminated for the last year or so on my 2005 Hyandai Sante fe......i was told at the dealership that this repair would cost approximately $600! Is my vehicle safe to drive?

As long as the airbag light is on the airbag system is disabled, so u must decide if u think it is safe tot drive, I would get it fixed, it could save your life.

Naturally, any drain for something will come off the bottom. Find the bottom of the intercooler and look for a valve.
Odd that an intercooler should have a drain. There shouldn't be anything in there to drain out, as the intercooler should only have air on the inside, coming from the turbo and going to the engine.
I had a similar problem but the growel was a feeling of a light knocking under brake foot when applying the brake, it was found the ABS rings on the shaft had split (not sure about the proper names) but very expensive repair through Hyundai but your local garage should be able to get the required parts at a much reduced cost.
You need to recharge your a/c, and check its fuses. It's not blowing cold air at all, even when you are driving, because when you are driving it is blowing in the cooler moving air from outside your vehicle.
The Air bag warning indicator will FLASH and/or stay on STEADY if the system has detected a fault.. The fault can exist anywhere in the system, sensors, wiring, air bags, module, etc... I recommend you take it to your local Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealership or a qualified reputable repair shop familiar with late model Ford SRS systems..
