I have a dewalt 708 double bevel sliding compound saw. My miter is at 90 degs,I move the left bevel position to the 45 deg stop and make a cut. The miter cut has increased by 4 degs. The saw was cutting great yesterday. All other settings are OK.

Your bevel positioner is adjustable, therefore, it will need adjusted from time to time. It goes from 48° to -3°. You didn't say which way it is off but you should be able to adjust it out. The best way to set it up is, rather than using a square or protractor, set it for 90°, make a cut and put the boards together face to face or back to back. The cut edged will appear as one when you have it adjusted correctly. Squares and protractors have a tendancy to be off a few degrees.

My left Bevel postion is at 45 deg, but the 90 deg miter is off when I make a base cut. When we cut base, we lay it flat on the saw postion the bevel at 45 deg and the miter is at 90 deg. The 90 deg grows 4 degs more. All other positions the cut is good.

It sounds like the plate that you lock into is loose. With the power off, look for some hold down screws at the rear of the saw. Tighten any that you can find. If you have any BLUE threadlocker, put a dab on the threads of each screw before you tighten it.

The level stop can be adjusted down, just by unlocking the nut and turning the bolt down, have your speed square ready to check it and lock it down, make sure it is not hitting the fence, I have the same saw and have had no problems with it, works great. Hope this helps.

The saw in the left bevel postion is at 45 degs, but went making the cut the miter cut is off 4 degs to the right. Miter and bevel cuts in the 0 deg. is dead on. Right 45 deg bevel cut is dead on, with the miter at 0 deg.

Let me see if I got that, the left miter at 90 degrees is ok, but when the bevel is turned down to 45, it is 4 degrees too much? Let me go out and look at my saw, and you answer that for me and I will let you know what I find.

  • jandj129 Jul 22, 2010

Yes, the miter is 90 degs. I put the left bevel to the 45deg stop, know my miter is 4 degs more.

Well, you won't believe this, but my saw will not tilt down either side on the bevel without hitting the guard, I have never made a cut that drastic in my life, and I have been doing this a long time, And now that I think about it, thee is nothing in the carpentry field that needs to be cut like that, most crown and other compound cuts are say, 30/30, they equal about 60 degrees no matter what they are, 15/45, 25,35, etc. So I don't know what you are cutting, but mine is off too. Never noticed. I would call the dewalt guys and say, Hey! whats up with this?? Hope this helps.

Adjusting the miter angle involves two cast surfaces sliding against each other. If those surfaces have some irregularities, high spots on the two surfaces will bind against each other. You may have to disassemble the rotating table from the base and do some filing or grinding.

This saw has locking indexing to set bevels for 52 degree crown molding the other common crown angle is 45 degrees, the bevel setting needs to be other than where the locking indexs are for the 52 degree crown. Problem is that the bevel lock does not securely hold at the bevel angle required. Is their an adjustment to get this lock to hold tighter.

How do I remove 12" blade from from dw705 miter

loosen the guard screw, UNPLUG tool first, move the guard out of the way, there is a spindle lockon the backside of the gearcase push it and slowly turn the blade until it engages and then remove the bolt, it is a left hand thread. DO NOT disassemble the guard, just loosen bolt and move out away from blade also you need to have the head in the raised position.
