i have panosonic tv and panosonic recorder dmr-ez47v ,hdmi cable to join both, when trying to tape from tv unable to get tv guide on screen to instigate timer. all that appears is tv guide landscape with nothing on it.any ideas please

Make sure your aerial's RF lead goes to the DVD first then out of that into the TV.
