Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 Digital Camera

Not recognized by any computer!

I have had my camera for almost a year and a half and have been using it on my new laptop for almost 7 months. It has worked fine at downloading pictures until about two weeks ago. Now it doesn't recognize my camera when I plug it into any of the USB ports. I have tried it on other computers and it does the same thing. I have no idea what could have happened. The people at panasonic were VERY unhelpful at getting this problem fixed. They say it is something with my computer but how come it is every computer I have tried. We have a new 3 month old baby and really want to send some pictures to family but can't get them downloaded. Please help!

Dear kingcarl24,
I would try getting a new cord that connects to the camera to your computer, or as a quick fix you could get a memory card reader that plugs into your usb port and download your images directly from the memory card.

Sincerely,
Allan

I have the exact same problem now, kingcarl24. It is driving me crazy!! I have been using the card reader as my solution but that risks damaging the card (formatting issues). Did you ever really solve this??

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Windows 7 does not recognize coolpix L820

If windows does not recognise the camera you must suspect the driver. I'm more a camera man, ten a Windows man, because with me everything works (I do have Win7 and Mac OSX 10.9.1)
Did you try to install Adobe Photoshop Elements, or something like Gimp? With these software you should be able to transfer pictures too. If these programs also don't work, it must be the driver.

Trying to install samsung digimax s500 on laptop operating windows 7. CD software is for windows 98/2000/ME/XP. Any advice?

The camera is probably supported by default in Windows 7.

To find out if this is the case, you should try using Picasa to download the pictures off of your camera.

Picasa is a free download from Google and has many cutting-edge features for picture management. I think that you'll like it.

  • Download Picasa from their web site (click here) to your Desktop
  • Once the Picasa file has completed downloading, Open the file and follow the directions displayed.
  • Once you have Picasa installed, connect your Olympus camera. Picasa will recognize that you have connected the camera and ask you how you want to proceed.
  • Have Picasa copy the images from your camera
  • You can then use Picasa to handle the photos from your camera.

Let me know if you have any questions.

How do i upload photos from a camera to a laptop

You can use the mini USB port to USB on the computer, or you can use a card reader connected to the USB port. Windows XP or Windows 7 will recognize either the camera or card as a device, and you can then download your pictures to a folder on your computer.

I can't get the driver software to work on my computer and it won't recognize the camera. I'm runnning a newer HP laptop top with Windows 7.

Older versions of Kojak's EasyShare software do not support the Windows 7 operating system, but Kodak's new version 8 does. You probably just need to download/install the new software at www.kodak.com

After a couple years of use, neither of my computers will recognize my G6. This is the second G6 I've had with this problem. Canon replaced the first camera with a new one. I have just returned from a trip, and don't know how to get the photos transferred, before I send it back to Canon. Would appreciate any helpful information. Thanks.
