After getting into a couple of websites such as Yahoo, thestar.com.my, this problem crops up. Some other sites are not affected. Pls enlighten me how to solve this.

If I understand you correctly you are having issues with unwanted "pop-ups" in your web browser?
Once spyware infects your computer it can create havoc on your system with pop-ups, random website redirecting and more.
I typically use three (free) programs and scan my computer about once a month to keep things running smooth. You should notice an improvement after the scans (which will take some time, be patient)

When installing these be aware of the installation options (sometimes they want to install a new search bar etc, you can disable these options)
Also after installation update each database to ensure you have the latest versions
Run each once separately and reboot after each one for best results.

I hope this helps,
Magoo

How do i stop my computer from using redirect

Most of the time is a Virus. I suggest you scan with Spybot Search & Destroy, and remove whatever it show. Then restart computer and do Malwarebytes.
See how far you can go. Below is some helpful
INFORMATION YOU CAN USE.

A Virus normally corrupts your computer. IF You have to do a Reformat. Be sure and do a Back-up First., because you will loose everything.

If you know how to do a back-up, save all your documents, pictures and music. If not take it to a reputable computer shop to take of this. There will be a slight charge, but they will save all your important data.

Computer is very slow and sometimes freezes disk cleanup and defragmenter dont improve things

Sounds like one of two things:
1) Hardware (hardrive) failure-
Could have a dead spot on your harddrive. Have you had any blue screens associated with this? If so your hard drive may be shot. Backup what you can and replace the hard drive.
or
2) Malware/trojan/spyware clogging up resources-
Download and run Spybot- Search and Destroy and run a full update and scan. Also update and run your anti-virus software. If you don't have one, or want a second opinion, search for Avast AV, great free anti-virus tool.

DELL DIMENSION 3100 PROBLEM

Even the best pop-up blocker may let a few through. If you are getting more than a few (especially if they are occurring when you are not actively browsing the web), I would highly recommend downloading, installing, and scanning with a free program called SpyBot Search & Destroy. This will remove any spyware/adware that might be causing your added pop-ups.

The anti spyware software should not conflict with your anti virus software.
You can download two good free anti spyware programs:
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10045910.html
AVG also has a free version.

Pop ups

It sounds like perhaps you have been hijacked or have a virus or some sort of spyware/adware. Using a wireless router shouldn't mean that you'll be bombarded with popups, but be sure you have your firewall running and security enabled on the router, just to be safe.

That said, try running a virus scan with whatever anti-virus you have installed. If you don't have anything, use TrendMicro's HouseCall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/). That I believe also will, or will give the option to, check for adware/spyware. If it doesn't, or if it doesn't find anything, try downloading a program like Spybot Search & Destroy (a personal favorite). You can download it here. Run a scan with Spybot and delete anything that it finds. Make sure you've set up Backups in the Spybot options first, and take a system screen shot via System Restore before you do anything.

If you need additional help, please let me know. Hopefully this helps though!

Good luck!
