Moldy gasket I have mold around on the gasket of my front load washer. I have a frigidaire Gallery series. I have mold also inside the gasket where there is like a lip you can stick your fingers in there and water just sits then turns black and gets moldy between washing. I have tryed bleach and wiping after every wash with a bleach rag but it still turns black and smells.

It because the mildew is not just on the gasket, but it is in the tub and in the pump and discharge hose as well. You need to reduce/eliminate the mildew in those parts. There is a couple of things you should do to reduce the causes of mildew.

1. Run the machine once a month using hot water and two cups of vinegar to clean out the machine. You might need to repeat this a few times to completely clean out your machine.

2. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the about and type of laundry detergent to use with your wash. Using too much detergent causes a build up of detergent on the tub which encourages mildew growth.

3. After your final wash of the day, leave the door and laundry detergent open, wipe dry the gasket with a cloth.

4. If the above steps does not help, try a commercial product like Affresh.

Hope this helps you.

How do I get rid of the black mold on the door gasket?

If you take a bit of tilex mold/mildew spray and a rag, you should be able to remove it all.
Also , look down at the bottom of the front "gutter" just in front of the tub. There is a series of drain holes and clothes lint can build up a bit in here. take a towel and wipe the holes really clean . This will help keep the water draining out of the front and keep the moldy smell to a minimum.
One last thing, I've found with my front loader, that if I keep my wash loads to a medium full size instead of completely jammed full load size, the drain/mold issue is almost non-existent.
Hope this clean it all up for you!

How do I get the mold out??

Without a proper model number I would say you need to clean your washer with a product called Affresh or Washerfresh. If you don't wipe the door dry and the boot dry, also dry inside the boot between the tub and front of machine. Also, when you finish washing, open the soap dispenser or better yet, take the soap dispenser drawer right out between washings to to let everything air dry and leave the door open. If the smell still persists you will have to change the door boot. Best off to call a reliable repair company such as Sears.

The machine smells moldy...

moldy smell, may not be mold at all, in fact most "moldy musty" smells actually come from user not using proper detergents, you NEED to be using an HE detergent and little amounts of that even. cut back on fabric \softneer if using, www.affresh.com new product to help alleviate this issue

MOLD IN WASHER

This is a typical problem with most front load washers and is due to moisture inside the washer being unable to dry out because of the air tight rubber gasket. The only consistent soultion I've seen for this problem is to leave the washer door ajar in between washes which will allow the moisture to air-dry as the conditions for mould growth are thus prevented.
