The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. Possibly the ignitor for the main oven burner has failed--
An observation question:
When the Broiler 'lights' and comes on, do you notice the ignitor glowing bright, before the gas valve (to the Broiler) opens, and you get the Broiler lighting---
Now-- for the main burner to come on, -- there has to be a similar bright glow from the MAIN BURNER ignitor, before its main burner gas valve can open-- No Ignitor?-- No ignition, and not Main Oven burner!
Hi. This sounds like a weak igniter, the symptoms usually are: burner won't light, or takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.
Because the glowbar is glowing does not necessarily make it good. Turn off the gas to the stove. Remove the oven racks. Remove the bottom oven pan. Remove the flame spreader. This gives you access to the glow bar and gas valve. Put a clamp on amp meter around one wire of the glowbar. Turn the oven control on to BAKE. If the glowbar reads 3 amps or less,replace the glowbar ignitor. If the glowbar reads good,check the burner tube for a white ash buildup. It can be cleaned with a wire brush. Look closely near the glowbar section of the burner. Check all the wire connections for the gas valve. If the glowbar is good and the ash deposits are gone and the oven still will not ignite,the next step is to replace the gas safety valve.
Sounds like a sticking gas valve or a defective hot surface igniter. Open the broiler drawer or remove the bottom cover in the oven compartment. The oven usually has a hot surface igniter or a spark igniter. Turn on the oven and watch for the hot surface igniter to start glowing. It should glow very bright. Once it is glowing the burner gas should come on. If you hear the gas come on it should light right away. If there is any delay shut off the oven and stay back. Let the gas clear out then inspect the area near the igniter and make sure the burner is not plugged(the little holes may have debris in them). If you turn on the oven and the igniter comes,glows brightly,no gas is heard but you can smell gas it is either a blocked burner orfice/assembly or sticking gas control valve. Try giving the burner and gas control valve a tap and see if it comes on. If you tap the control valve and it starts working then shut of the oven and try it several times. If it starts to come on and off now you may have cleared whatever debris was causing the problem. If it does it again then it could be the control valve or a weak hot surface igniter. The igniter can be tested with a ohm meter. Most of the time when I get this complaint it is the oven control valve that is sticking. Be very careful when doing these procedures....gas can build up in the oven compartment very quicky and flash if ignited. Always have the gas shut off valve at the back of the range within reach and the electrical outlet in case you need to unplug it.
Turn on the gas knob for the oven (below the grill) You will see an ignition button below the one that switches on the oven light,it is clearly marked. Press in and hold the gas knob and press ignite button,you will see the safety bar flame light,when the safe to operate temperature is reached,the oven will stay lit after you release the gas supply knob. u sure the flame is lighting sounds like it isn't make sure u physically see the flame u might just be seeing the glow of the igniter if it doesn't light more than likely the igniter needs to be replaced
Doubt that the glow plug is bad. Gas only needs about 1100 degree F. to ignite using the glow plug method. It really seems as if there may be no gas getting to the burner. If there is no flame, you should be able to smell gas. If there is no gas smell, then I would look for the obvious such as: is the gas turned on?, Does the gas valve on the unit have a safety that is tripped? and so on. A new gas valve may be in order but make sure that it is receiving the proper voltage when the glow plug is on. Lastly, there may be a safety that is malfunctioning. If the unit does not light within a given time, the safety will "Lock Out" the unit so the place doesn't fill up with gas.

Your gas valve has a thermocouple circuit that will not let gas flow until the ignitor is hot enough. A failed ignitor can still glow but not be hot enough to open the gas valve. Replace your ignitor.
Take off the top cover plate inside the oven. Now with the door open turn the oven on does the hot surface glow? If it doesn't glow then you have a bad igniter and needs to be replaced. What ever you do don't touch the surface of the new igniter human oil will shorten the life of the igniter. now if the hot surface glows then the gas valve is bad and need to be replaced. I'm betting it's the hot surface.
Most
gas ranges currently available employ one of 3 basic gas ignition
systems; pilot ignition, hot surface ignition system (which uses a
'glow bar' or 'glow coil' - aka an "ignitor") and a spark ignition
system. The latter two being referred to as "electronic ignition"
systems as they use electricity in one form or another to operate the
oven heating system. Only the pilot ignition system has an actual "pilot" (which is a small but real "flame") which might need manual lighting.
If the surface burners of a range are a spark ignition type, the oven IS one of the possible kinds of electronic ignition systems
and thus will not usually have a "pilot" which needs lighting. Be aware
though that just because the surface burners might light via a spark
doesn't necessarily mean the oven uses the spark type ignition system
too.
There is one older style of electronic ignition system which does
also use an oven pilot but it is very rare and such a system hasn't
been used in oven models since the early to mid 70's. It is the
