Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool microwave and seperate oven combination model RM280PXB02. When the door to the microwave is shut it continues to cook. We can not turn it off or clear it and no indicator errors show up on the panel. I don't have a manual for the unit. Can you tell me how I can obtain a manual and any other information. Thank you

SOURCE: Microwave cooking center

Try visiting the manuf. Web Site. IF it is a major manufacturer, they normally will supply parts for their products. You didn't supply the make of your Microwave, so I am afraid I could not look into it any further for you. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Whirlpool Microwave (Magi-cook) Problem

Hi have a nice day!
When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

SOURCE: microwave works for 30 seconds and then turns off

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doesn't fix it.

SOURCE: everything works except the cooking part/no heating/turntable not turning, help!

you may have gotten a power surge and that can cause some funny things to happen, 1st is there power to the oven, 2nd if so there may be an internal fuse protector built in to the oven, check with the manual for anything of that sort listed. if not you may have to take it in and have it repaired by a pro. there is a lot of voltage in these ovens and unless you know what you are doing a person could get hurt

My GE Microwave Model JKP90SP4SS will not shut off, even with no time programmed and cooking is done. The only way to stop operation is to open the door or shut off the breaker.

This kind problem is usually associated with the door micro switches. What happens is the switches are supposed to prevent operation when the door is open and other things. When one fails, often the oven will run with the door open or closed. There are a number of these micro switches inside and they protect the user from certain unintended actions or combinations of actions. This usually happens with well used ovens. There are extremely dangerous voltages inside a microwave over, even when not connected to power. Find a tech who knows these things.

Occassionally (about 5% of the time) the microwave continues to cook and buzz after the timer has run out and the fan stops running.

sounds like the program bord is faulty,, when your finished cooking leave the door open a little that will save the microwave from trying to cook nothing?

F6 appears on my Whirlpool Over Oven Microwave, Model GH7145XFB0. It will not let me perform the self-diagnostic test. When the door is closed, the light goes out and the unit begins the "cooking process"....

If it starts cooking as soon as you close the door, try unplugging it for a minute then try again. If it does the same its probably a defective triac or relay which is inside the microwave.

Microwave still continues after cooking time is ended

It is the fan. Im guessing it only happens on combination cook and not when you are only using the microwave setting. It happens because the oven is hot and it helps to cool it quicker. It is normal. The microwaves are not working and neither is the oven-just the fan.

Fan runs when door is closed

This is an interlock issue or a faulty temperature sensor. Both will require the outer casing to be removed for inspection. Basic tests can be done with a continuity tester or cheap digital multimeter with resistance checking facilty (Radioshack)

The sensors for these types of fans are normally attached to the roof of the cooking cavity, little silver components with two or more wires.

Check these out with a meter if any are open circuit then they need to be replaced.

Help please

Are you saying that it will stop cooking after 59 seconds, but it will resume cooking if you press Start again?

(If not, please reply back and clarify)

If so, this is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample photo for a typical damper assembly.
