Issue archiving data during upgrade to QB Pro 2007

We upgraded to QB Pro 2007 a few years ago and tried to archive old data. When we did it came up with an error code and when we backed out to leave the data active it somehow brought old previously deposited sales receipts up as needing to be deposited. Any ideas on what to do with these already deposited transactions? I can't try to redeposit them because they were done already (several years ago).

Don't worry about the sales receipts. You have a bigger problem at hand. The reason it is bringing up pieces of old data is because you are nearing your limits in the program. There is a a limit in lists in QBooks (Customer names, vendor names, employee names, other names add them all up together) that when you get close to exceeding it the program starts to randomly purge data. It does things like deletes some things on an old deposit, or deletes some of the invoices already paid for by a payment posted and sometimes it deletes the customers main information (address ect.). When it randomly purges transactions that are linked with others then the records begin to error out. This will continue until the program stops loading and locks up completely. There are many ways to solve the problem. Some people keep one year of accounting records in each company file and begin a new file with the new year. You can consolidate names (go through your inactive entries on all lists and see if there are duplicates you can merge). I would try and clean up as many as possible by consolidating and merging and then use the verify data feature under file and then utiltiies and follow the instructions to very the integrity of your file. If it passes then you can try and archive previous periods again.

I have a LaCie TB080LL/A 160GB Hard Drive, that performed flawlessly until a few weeks ago, when it started shutting down on it's own. I push the button to start and it fires up but then shuts down. I...

It's shutting down because the power board from the case overheats and fails. Basically this drive is dying - using it for archiving purpose is the absolute worst decision you could make since you can be absolutely sure it will die for good very soon. There is nothing you can do to fix it, it's normal wear caused by its advanced age.
Just junk it and get a new one.

I am trying to upgrade our Department from Office 2003 to 2007

You can use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard or User State Migration Tool. Also, with that size of an environment you should consider hosting your own mail and use Exchange. Also, are you in a domain environment?

Error message Library not registered

I got the message "Line 25: Library not registered" after uninstalling QuickBooks Pro 2009 and trying to run my old version of QB Pro 2006.

(I had installed 2009 version to upgrade my QB2006 Pro version but got into problems with multicurrency support not being supported in the Canadian QB Pro 2009.)

Fix is VERY easy and I think it applies to anyone trying to run an older version of QB Pro after uninstalling a newer version.

Fix is to find the file "reboot.bat" located in the program files associated with the older QB version.
In my case it was found in "C:/Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro" folder.
Just double click on the file to run it. This file tells the system where parts of the QB program are located including the DLL libraries it needs. After running this file you should be able to run your old QB version OK. No rebooting necessary.

Upgrading from Quickbooks Pro 2003 to Quickbooks 2009

I would not open up the company file in 2009. Open your 2003 Quickbooks, make a backup and then restore the back up in 2009. If you do run into problems you might want to upgrade into 2006 and then to 2009. (you will need to find someone who can do this for you if you don't have a 2006 version. I can help you with that if you need it

Quickbooks error ~~ transfering files from 2003 to 2009

There may be more than one issue going on here. In some cases, going to a version that is several versions later requires a stepped upgrade. 2003 to 2004, 2004 to 2006, then to 2009. There may also be data damage existing in the 2003 file that will prevent an upgrade, until it is resolved in 2003.
Intuit used to have a policy that it would have you send in a copy of the data file and would convert it for free if you were going to the latest version.
If you are still unable to resolve this, let me know.
