Question about Samsung HL-R6167W 61" HDTV

1 Answer

Issues with television.

We have a Samsung HLR6167W and are having a few problems with the television. This is the second time our television has been struck by lightning, we are assuming this is what happened this time because it is doing the exact same thing as the television did the first time. Sometimes the television will not turn on and sometimes it will and if we get a picture it has alot of different colored lines and dots all over the screen. The first time it was struck we had to replace the main control panel. The cost was around 1100.00 and I was just wondering if this is a part that I can purchase and replace myself? I was just trying to save some of the expense and complete the project ourselves.

Hello,

yes, you can change the control board yourself in order to save cost. But you have to make sure the control board you will be buying is tested or has a warranty, that is , if it does not work, you will return it.

Replacing the control board is not a bid task. All you need to do is to disassemble the TV, remove all the wires connected to the control board and make sure you write out the colors of the wire and their position so that you can fix them back to their right position. Or you can snap it with camera so that there won't mix up the connection.

That's all you need to do. Also take not that TV store electric current, so leave it for a while before you disassemble it.

I wish you the best of luck.

    Hello,

since we don't stay in the same vicinity, I won't be able to give you a precise place to buy the control board in your area. Buy you should be able to order it online and it will be shipped to your house. Find the link below and call to confirm if the control board is available and ask for the exact board for your TV model.

My TV takes 20 minutes to turn on

The power supply have sometimes used TAIWAN CAPACITORS they must be replaced in the power supply board most are the tolerances of the capacitors in voltage too tight. if you replaced the capacitors 10 v to 16 v and the 25 to 35 v models then the format of the cup it is not to big. 105 or 85 degrees capacitors of a good factory make working the tv for years but also if there is someone who will repair then also replace the capacitors in the circuit who looks the same size and voltage of the backlight inverter because to protect of the very sensitive step up transformators that will get to high voltages and will damaged in some time if you forget that. Samsung have most of the times bad capacitors and also some 2 watt resistors in mains secundary replace also a few because the 2 watt resistors of samsung are not to trust. in mains, replace with every other resistor of 2 or better 3 - 5 watts .

Does the TV appear to be cycling on and off, like its attempting to boot up? Or, does it just not come on at all? Don't miss the lamp door interlock switch. Many Samsung DLPs have tempermental door switches. Try re-installing the door or manually hold the switch in the closed postion and try to power it up. If the lamp comes on and stays lit, you've found your problem.

I have a SAMSUNG DLP model HLR6167w with a problem. I just changed the light hoping this would fix the problem. When the problem first occurred, I could barely make out the picture, and it was very green...

You need to do an aggressive reset on the TV. This solved problem completely for me. You must unplug the TV when it is on. Repeat this several times until the TV is jolted back into the factory default settings. The issue is actually with the programming I believe. The clue was that the display worked 100% perfect in HDMI mode, and the problem only existed in the cable setting, no matter if wires were attached or not.

Again, do an aggressive reset to the TV by unplugging it several times while it is on. It may not register the reset at first because after all, the actual problem is a programming issue and it's having trouble recognizing commands in the first place.

Good luck!!

This sounds similar to the same problem I had with my TV. I went out and purchased a new light thinking it was the source of the problem, but I was wrong. It turns out the color wheel and fan went bad and it cost roughly $575.00 for the parts and labor to fix it. My tv was the hlr6167w
