You can get them from Hitachi 1-800-448-2244

and if they don't have them then they can tell you where to contact.

You could also try any tv repair store and see if they have what you need, make sure you have your tv model number at hand when you call

Is it the ballast or the bulb which is faulty?

Put a new bulb in, if it works, the bulb was a problem, if it still flickers, the ballast is a problem.

If the bulb has a black plastic base it is a halogen bulb and has no ballast. If it has a metal base it is an HID bulb and the ballast is inside the metal base. The HID bulb looks like this:

My yard light, I think its a mercury vapor light? will go off randomly at night and come back on after about 30 seconds continuously. Any suggestions?

Check whether it is self ballast, if it is self-ballasted, so the ballast is integrated with bulb itself, so you can replace it with a new bulb, it can be self-ballasted mercury vapor bulb or regular energy saving bulb., if it is mercury bulb need work with ballast, from your description, the capacitor should be replaced, which is a little bit complicated, you should check it with electrician, or you can do it carefully after you read some documents.

Safety Tips: Turn power off at any time before you start to repair any electric appliance or lighting equipment.

The following is some reference for mercury bulbs and its associcated ballast.

How to tell if ballast is bad on samsung dlp tv

It is a common practice that the ballast to repalce along with new bulb. There is no way to check the internal winding short of ballast. Repalce both at the same time. If ballast has any damage, it will surely ruin the bulb too.

How to bypass ballast

The ballast is needed to start and regulate the bulb. I wouldnt recommend bypassing, unless you know how many volts the bulb needs to start(would need appropriate capasitor) and the watts/ amps needed to stay running (which would require a transformer) caps and transformers= a ballast, its easier to replace the ballast than build your own and risk it.

I have sound to my t.v, but no picture. bulb is good, i read it could be a ballast?

try to check first if there is a voltage input in to your ballast before replacing it. If there is a current going to your ballast and the bulb still not powering for sure the ballast is defective and you can replace it.

I usually test the ballast simply by excluding everything else.

1) Put in bulb that you know works
2) Replace starter (if you have one)
3) check that wiring is intact (sounds like it is for you but I had one light that the wiring barely made contact so sometimes it came on and sometimes it blinked)
4) If all that is good, then it's probably the ballast.

96 inch fluorescent light only one bulb will burn have changed bulbs and balist

If it is wired correctly, the only thng left is the tomestones, the contacts that the bulb connects to. Try this ;switch the two wires from the one bulb at the ballast to the other bulb on the ballast. If the other bulb now lights then the new ballast is bad and need to be exchanged.
