Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-ONe will not print, copy, scan or fax. When I turn it on, I get an error message that says "inable to scan, copy or fax". I tried unplugging it...did not work. Please help.

    The problem seems to be the wireless connection with the computer. I unplugged the printer and replugged it in several times, then turned it on, hit #3, and then used a cable to connect it to my computer. So the one computer can print, but the others in our wireless networs (2 more) cannot print. any suggestions on how to be able to print with wireless and not repeatedly get the error message "Failure to scan, copy or fax"?

    When I plug the computer directly to the printer, I can print, but it will not print wirelessly even when I reset the printer to accept wireless. I loaded the current printer driver and it made no difference. I still canot scan, fax or copy and it seems that would not have anything to do with the printer driver anyway.

First thing to do is run the diagnistics test from the original installation CD. This may require reinstalling the software.
The diagnostics results should point you to the problem and recommend a solution.
If I had to guess, I'd say the problem is the connection to the computer. Make sure your cable is good and connected to the correct port.

    If you have a wireless phone, especially if it near the printer, you may be getting interference. Newer DECT wireless phone reduce or eliminate this problem.

This is a scanner alignment failure problem,. Have seen this error message a million times on fixya! Only solution is to replace the LED scanning assembly. Sorry to say this but I wish I could suggest a better solution.

    Yes it has nothing to do with the driver. You will be able to scan if you remove the cover of the scanning assembly and manually align the scanning LED at the top. But after a few scans the problem will repeat ittself. Trust me you run a search on google or something and you will see millions of results.

First make sure your printer show online status means green led is flash when it initlize If it show orange led then pull ink cartridge from it then make sure there is not any paper jam inside printer. Also make sure printer usb cable is working fine .Try it in different usb port of computer .Uninstall old driver and reinstall driver. Then check. Let me know if you need further assistance.     You can check it with printer menu settings then enable wireless also make sure ip settings of wifi ip is in the range of wireless network.

This could be the Scanner Lamp, perhaps it's not working properly or it's bad or dead. The problem is also related to the scanning unit's flex cable, replacing will fix this. It's also possible that the mother board is bad. It'l need service and there's less hope to get it repaired.

First of all try this, Remove all the cartridges, turn off the printer, disconnect all the cables including the power cord. Clean the contact points on the cartridges and on the printer using a soft brush or cotton dipped in alcohol or acetone or spirit. After they are dried, power on the printer with the power cord connected, and keep pressing the Power button while it boots up. Leave it On for few minutes and see what happens. If this doesn't help. You need to disassemble the machine. If you are not sure how to do it and how to reassemble, I wouldn't recommend it, if in case it can be easily repaired after replacing few parts, you might make another damage to the system which could make it irrepairable. No problem, let me know when you are done with the few steps mentioned above. I'll assist you further.

    I was able to print an alignment page and so the ink does not seem to be the problem. It is the computer's communicartion with the computer (wireless).

Printer will only print, not copy fax or scan


Hi,
It is possiblethat the all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work with Vista, after some update or other. You did the right thing by uninstalling and reinstalling. Make sure you have the correct driver from the HP site..

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP C6180) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

put the old cartridge back, if there have same error message then tell me what error message is, if not that's mean new cartridge is defect.

Hi,


Check the following steps:


Connect the printer directly to the wall outlet and


1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.



1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord



Try to check the result.

Error HP Photosmart 3310. No strart print, no scanning...


I have a Photosmart C6180 all in one and get an error message 0xc18a0101 Ink System has failed. Unable to copy, receive faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a101.

I put new cartridges in and tried to recalibrate as mentioned by someone on the board. Can anyone help, please?

SCAN,COPY,FAX PROBLEM


Issue An 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution
  1. Press the On button to turn the printer off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
  4. Wait two minutes.
  5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
  6. Press the On button to turn the printer on.
  7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved. If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.     Here is a manual if you dont already have one.   http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00486336.pdf
