Question about Panasonic NV-GS10 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Lcd blank /dead everthing else is working including black and white view finder. I have opened the camera and had a good look but all the joining ribbons appear to be in good order, I have not opened the Lcd to have a look at the ribbon from that side?

SOURCE: No picture in LCD
The most common problem I see in this camera is the LCD harness itself. A crease forms in the cable and opens the B+ line going to the backilght assembly. I would also check the chemical fuses located on the DC input board to see if any are open due to a shorted inverter in the LCD module. The open fuse will show low ohms to ground if the inverter is shorted. Good Luck my friend! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org

SOURCE: Panasonic lcd ribbon cable
u can order them email them the part discription they can send u one if u go to panasonic they will ask for a price of new cam
link for order or try ebay for this it iwll help
you first need to strip both the camcorder and the lcd door to get the actual cable out. It might just push into a terminal connector at either end or it might be soldered to the circuit board at either end. Once you find that out then you could probably get a piece of ribbon cable to replace it from an electronic parts supplier. You also have the option (if you have a decent soldering iron) to just use standard multicore cable and solder a colour-coded set to replace the ribbon. If the board uses connectors you would have to unsolder that too and then make up your own cable loom using very thin cable.
It's a delicate operation requiring patience and a BIG magnifying glass ..I had to fix the ribbon cable when I blew up my LCD monitor...the terminals are really tiny but it can be done!!
plsw rate me FIXYA if i helped

You probably have the lens cap on, the iris dial closed, or you are in vcr mode rather than camera mode. You may also have the nd filter set to 1/64th, this is only for bright sunlight. When shooting indoors with low light, set the nd filter to off and hit the iris button until iris manual appears on the lcd, then dial the iris dial in front of the iris button up or down to bring the iris to around 5.6 f stop.

It sounds like the ribbon cable has worked itself loose either on the flip or the main body of the camera itself.
If you are confident that you can can take the camera apart and check the cables then all you will need is a set of precision screwdrivers, patience and steady hands as you will be working with delicate parts.
If your not confident with repairing yourself then i recommend that you take the camera to a specialist.
