Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

My directv hd dvr is stuck on the same channel. None of the buttons on the remote work with it and none of the buttons on the box itself will change anything. I have rebooted it and reset it. Even going so far as unplugging it waiting 30 minutes and repowering it. Nothing has changed. I turn it on it goes through it boot up and it is still on the same page. What to do?

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Sci Atlanta 8300 DVR HD sound in HD channels soft - analog channels OK

Experience has shown that with this relatively new mode of transmission, audio levels can be quite dynamic. If your set provides it, you may try turning on "Audio Compress" or whatever the name might be. Could also be called Dynamic audio also or some such. Reason for all the hubbub is that along with HD, mixing engineers are also providing the most range for the audio dynamics as well the most video composition info in the new broadcasts...Accordianman.

SOURCE: DVR recording problems

i am not terribly familiar with these systems but there are probably two sattelite in ports on the back of the receiver, one is a line for watching one program or recording, the other strictly for recording, one of these inputs is probably no longer receiving signal

SOURCE: Verizon FIOS Motorola 6200-2 HD box remote freezes

i'm a verizon employee currently working at a customer's house. just swapped out 3rd 6200 stb, the channels will seemingly change on their own(scrolling) after pressing the remote just a few times. the root of the problem is that the remote is not responding to the stb in the first place properly. all i can figure is that there is some type of ir interference. i've placed the remote 1" from the stb and the same problem exists. it's not the box and the remote is brand new, tried 3 remotes as well. there is something going on in the atmosphere around the box - in or outside the custmer's house. they were on vacation and when they came back this is the trouble they were having. i don't have an answer, just some type of possibilities. there is a power transformer outside on a pole approx. 100' from the house and we had bad storm related issues in the past week. i know it's a stretch, but you never know. could be surround sound/ stereo equipment generating some kind of field??????????? good luck.

SOURCE: DCT6412 DVR Box

When that happens its most likley you had a power outage and the box reset.  Well kinda reset but not all the way.  You can unplug the power and wait about 10sec and plug it back in and wait a few min to a few hours, and If that doesn't work get a new box.

TV Remote code issues

If you go to Directv.com and go to the remote control programming section you can put in the make and model of the tv and it will usually come up with a specific code that may work. I hope this helps a little bit. :)

Remote will not work

you would need to contact directv at 800-531-5000 and if programming it did not work, and setting it to default did not work, you may need a new remote. remote will cost about $15 unless you have the protection plan then it should be free depending on some circumstances.

directv remotes are not guaranteed to work w/ all types of TV's. when programming remote to TV, make sure you are holding down MUTE and SELECT both at the same time for about 4-5 seconds. until it blinks twice at the top of the remote. also the slide switch must be under the "tv" mode on the right hand side. the website i provided is by directv, and has a list of their codes for the brand of tv that you have.

if you are trying to program a remote to a directv box, and none of the codes are working for the directv box, contact directv to have them send you a new remote.

Directv DVR vs Tivo

I found the manual for that model online, and according to it, the "Live TV" button should function exactly the same way your old Tivo did.

If it's not working correctly, you may want to contact the manufacturer, assuming it's still under warranty.

Picture shifts to left

I had the offset left issue for non-HD channels with my Panasonic 42" plasma, using Comcast HD cable box. Went into the configuration menu (to get there with the newer Comcast boxes, you have to turn the box off, then hit the menu button on the box immediately after). You will see on the menu a resolution (probably says 1080i), then below it a "4:3 override". Our said 480i. When I changed it to "none", so that it stayed 1080i, it worked! It also works by selecting 480p, but then the picture is stretched.

Vizio and the directv dvr

Vizio recommends using code 11758 or 10178 for Cable/Satellite universal remotes that use five digits such as DirecTV. For four digit Cable/Satellite universal remotes , use 1758 or 0178. For three digit Cable/Satellite universal remotes, such as Dish or Echostar, use 627. These codes typically make the Power, Volume and Mute functions work.

Hi

Have questions about your upgrade? We've got the answers. What do I need to do to receive my upgrade? Nothing! Just make sure your DIRECTV HD DVR is continuously connected to your land-based phone line and you will receive the upgrade automatically. When will I receive my upgrade? The 6.3 software upgrade will roll out over a period of several weeks. Customers with more than one DIRECTV HD DVR may receive their upgrades at different times for each receiver. We appreciate your patience while we deliver these new and improved features to eligible DIRECTV HD DVR customers nationwide. Are all DIRECTV DVRs receiving this upgrade? No. DIRECTV DVR models SONY SAT-T60, PHILIPS DSR6000R and HUGHES GXCEBOT will not receive the 6.3 software upgrade. Other models received a similar upgrade, 6.2, in the past. I have a DIRECTV R10 DVR with 6.1 software. Will I receive this upgrade? No. The 6.1 software on the DIRECTV R10 DVR already includes the 6.2 features such as folders and faster menu scrolling. Will any of my DVR settings be changed as a result of the upgrade? Yes, some of your settings or preferences will be changed back to the factory default settings as a result of the upgrade. These include: "Favorite Channels," "Channels You Receive," "Spending Limits," "Clear Channel Banner Quickly" and "Dolby Digital" recording and output. To change Channel Banners, Channels You Receive and Favorite Channels preferences: 1. Select "Messages and Setup" 2. Select "Settings" 3. Select "Channels" To change Spending Limits: 1. Select "Messages and Setup" 2. Select "Settings" 3. Select "Parental Control" To change Dolby Digital Settings: 1. Select "Messages and Setup" 2. Select "Settings" 3. Select "Audio" 4. Select "Dolby Digital" and "Digital Output" Will I be charged for this upgrade? No. We're upgrading your DIRECTV HD DVR as part of your normal DIRECTV® DVR with TiVo® service at no additional cost. What happens if I don't have my phone line plugged into my DIRECTV DVR? You will not be able to receive the upgrade if your DIRECTV DVR is not connected to your phone line. To install the upgrade, your receiver must successfully make a call to our servers. How will I know when I have received my upgrade? You'll receive an on-screen message the first time you visit DIRECTV Central after your upgrade is complete. It will also appear in your Messages section. You can also check your System Information screen to find out which software version you currently have. Will the download delete any of my currently saved programs? No. All of your saved programs will still be there for your enjoyment after the installation. Once your upgrade is complete... How do I activate the Grouping (folders) option? 1. Go to your Now Playing List. 2. Press Enter on your remote control. 3. Change groups to ON. SHORTCUT HINT: While viewing your Now Playing List, press number 2 on your remote control and your Now Playing List will change from the GROUPS view to show each individual recording. Press 2 again and it will switch back to the GROUPS option. How do I sort alphabetically instead of by date recorded? 1. Go to your Now Playing List. 2. Press Enter on your remote control. 3. Change sorting option to Alphabetical. SHORTCUT HINT: While viewing your Now Playing List, press number 1 on your remote control and your Now Playing List will change from alphabetical to date sort.
