Question about Kenmore 6000 BTU Single Room Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Water in air conditioner

I recently bought a Kenmore Window Air Conditioner #253.70062. I installed in my window yesterday and there is water running from the top of the unit down and when it hits the fan it is spitting the water out. Is there not a place for the water to drain? The water is spitting outside not inside but this does not look or sound normal? Can you help.

A lot of the newer window units design the outside fan to pickup the condensate water and sling it onto the coil. The evaporative effect makes the unit run more efficiently. They ususally don't spit, but if the unit is running well, otherwise, I would't worry about it.

Water is leaking from window air condition on the inside. What causes this to happen.

Reposition the air conditioner slightly. Tilt the window unit to where the water will run towards the backside and the problem will be solved.

Make sure the unit tilts towards the outside. If it's installed level or tilted toward front it will not drain properly.

Need window air conditioner to fit window 23" wide. Studio apartment main room is 13'X17' with kitchen 6'x17' and walk-in closet and bath 5'x17'. Would like a kenmore and quiet while in operation.

Hi; Try purchasing an up right portable ac unit. Then all you need to do is vent the hot air tube out a convienant window or dryer duct. Needs to be at least 12,OOO BTU. I size my installs to 400 sq. ft. per ton(12,000 btu)

Just bought a kenmore 10000 btu window a/c unit - need to install

You CAN put it on the 3rd floor as long as you make sure it's completely secure. One thing I do recommend is building (or buying) a window unit shelf that sits outside the window and the air conditioner sits on it for extra support. The shelf is secured by the window frame.

There are many "how-to" guides to building a window unit shelf all over the internet.

I hope this helps.
