Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Pye2000ayw maytag dryer has been working fine, now will not start Electric ok to dryer. I see the thermostat, but where do I look for the THERMAL FUSE? I was going to check that before contacting...

The most common reason it wont run or start is because the door switch has failed or came loose, Then there is a belt sensor that turns off when the belt comes loose or breaks. If the fuse you are talking about opens, the issue will be no heat but it will run

The dryer doesnt get hot enough to dry clothes

Pull the dryer out and remove the lint hose . Turn on the dryer and feel if there is good air flow and if you feel heat . If there is good air flow and heat , dry a load of clothes , to see if they dry normally .
If there is not good air flow , then the blower wheel is probably stripped and needs to be replaced . If there is good air flow and heat , then the problem is in the vent ducting , between the dryer and to where it vents to the outside . Dryer could be pushed back too far , causing the hose to " kink " , restricting the air flow to the outside .
Remember , a dryer either heats or doesn't heat . If no heat , then a dryer problem exists . If heat , but dryer does not dry , then a vent problem is the cause ( except for maytag , which the blower wheel sometimes strips out ) .

If your dyrer has a thermal fuse, it will be on the blower housing (front), not on the heat element. It will be either white plastic os a button about half the size of other thermos. The fuse on the heat element will shut down the haet only. Hope this helps!

Maytag Neptune Dryer-stopped heating

first, check the exhaust, make sure every inch of it is clean on the inside. if there is any blockage, the heat will build up in the exhaust and a sensor will shut down the heating element.

Dryer thermofuse blown again

Probably restricted air flow caused by lint build up. Clean out dryer and all vent pipes, check damper outside and see if it opens. After you clean out everything run dryer on aif fluff/no heat cycle and see if there is good air flow outside. If it is electric it could be that the heating element is burned out and shorting out against the frame. This can cause overheating.
