Hello,

First you try to re run the connection of the television.

Then you check if your television is on pal or ntsc or any other settings that supports color on the television.

After checking that, you can also go to the color settings from the menu of the television and try to fine tune or set color on the television.

Take care

I hooked up the dvd but I get a picture but no sound

audio cables need to be hooked up as well not just a video cable.
usually red and white and clearly colored on the output side of the dvd player and the tv. input is on the tv output is on the dvd, also if you are using a fiber connection (optical sound) you will need a fiber cable from the dvd to the tv.

I am trying to connect an akai dvd player to directv, please help

ruettab,

good day. to connect your any DVD player to any TV screen always remember this color code

from DVD back part:

yellow = video out

red/blue/green( in a row) = component video out ( this can only be used for screen with component video inputs)

Black = digital audio ( rarely use unless)
Red and white (in a row) = Audio output (left and right audio)

where to connect from TV screen.

Locate where A/V INPUTS (audio/video socket) from your TV screen, you can see it either at the BACK/SIDE or somtimes in FRONT of TV screen , having marked as "AV1"AV2"AV3' .

Once you found TV input, you must first have RCA cable (color code cable to connect player to screen) then connect the RCA cable at the back of your DVD player, simply follow color code

RCA yellow marked cable = DVD yellow socket
RCA RED and WHITE marked cable = DVD RED and white socket (second row for your player)

then connect the other end of the RCA cable to TV screen, first select which input where you gonna place the DVD player ( either AV1, Av2 or Av3 if do have multiple inputs)

once decided which INPUT to connect the player.
ex. if you select AV1 as input there would be 3socket on its row (yellow/red/white)

now connect the other end of RCA cable to the screen by following the same color code:

RCA yellow cable = TV screen A/V1 input yellow socket
RCA RED and White = TV screen A/V1 input red and white socket.

cheers,
mark

Lg 32lc2r, only showing picture in black and white

Make sure that the color control level is set to the default or 50% to start with. This should be in the Video menu.

The colour for the tuner and for the encoded base-band video uses a circuit area called the colour demodulator. It is possible that this cirucuit area has failed and needs servicing.

Componet 1 and WII

First of all, make sure that you have the colors of the component cable matched correctly. You can switch the Pr and Pb cable and still get a picture although in the wrong color.

Secondly, go to the TV menu... the menu should still be in color. If it is in B/W then you might have a hardware issue. Try adjusting the custom color setting so that you get a blue picture or red picture. There is an option for adjusting the color called "blue mute" it should give you a perfectly blue picture. If you still don't get any color than it is a hardware issue. It could be the Main Board or the Control Board.

It was the Main Board in my case.
