will not print black, has new hp black ink in it still will not print black

  • Anonymous May 09, 2008

Different printer same problem. The colour cartridge works fine but the black one doesn't print. It faded then nothing at all. It is not the driver as it does not scan using the black cartridge when you press the copy button. I've changed the cartridge so there is plenty of ink in it. The black cartridge does not work in any circumstances- printing from computer, scanning or test pages.

My HP D7360 Photosmart printer just quit printing black. I put in two new black cartridges but still no black. Went through all of the troubleshooting procedures, still no black. This printer has only gone through three black cartridges since new. HP support is no good.

  • rpatapis Sep 01, 2008

Have tried installing two new black ink cartridges, yet icon continues to show that cartridge is empty. Called HP and followed their suggestions. ie, turned off printer, disconnected, and re-started. Printer does not acknowledge that cartridge has ink.

My D7360 has exactly the same problem, after changing cartridges and trying all other solutions suggested it will not print black.

Got the same problem and this machine is **** and after reading others problems I don't see any resolution short of the trash can. I'm going out to buy a new printer!!!!!!! Geezzzzz......

I have the same exact problem - the fix I received from HP was:

The most possible causes of this issue are:

Ink sensor could be corroded and giving a false message.

    Hardware malfunction of the printer

I would like you to go to the following web link and perform the steps once again to clean the ink cartridges and reset the printer:

NOTE: You may find that some of the steps provided below have already been performed by you, in that case it is requested to try them once again for better diagnosis of the issue.

NOTE: Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is invalid. If this occurs, copy the portion of the address on the remaining line(s) and paste it at the end of the address showing in your browser until the complete address is displayed in the Address box.

NOTE: Although the above web link is for "Missing or Damaged Ink cartridge", the same steps of resetting the printer and cleaning the cartridges are applicable for this issue also.

** The other interesting twist to this is that if I perform the head cleaning procedure, the yellow cartridge prints perfectly... then I get a message about there not being enough ink to ensure printer health!

Same problem with yellow ink!! HP will be happy to send me an upgrade! They will also be happy to charge me for it!!

Same problem. Will not print in black despite repeated chats with HP support and following their song & dance on cleaning carts, & changing out carts. I'm thinking that it will make a great artificial reef. Plus a reminder to buy anybody's but HP.

I have the same problem. I just re-installed all ink cartridges into my printer from the first actual cartridges given to me with the printer and the black ink doesn't work. I contacted HP and they told me that I needed to change my black ink, after I already told them that I have tried 2 new ink cartridges in the system. I went out and bought another one thinking that this would fix the problem, and it didn't. I contacted HP again and I was told that it was the printer that was broken. The actual black ink section was faulty. Since it was a year and a month since I bought the product it was not under warranty, so nothing could be done but to buy another faulty piece of merchandise from HP. I could also service it, but that was never given a price tag. If you want my opinion don't purchase anything from HP again, I know I won't.

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge but not anymore :) I fixed the problem by pulling the printer cartridge sensors outward with a very small screwdriver.
Hope this helps

HP Photosmart 3210xi - some colors (magentas) will not print

Remove the magenta cartridge, and try cleaning the head with alcohol, maybe with a small paint brush or an acid brush. It sounds like ink has dried and plugged up that head.

Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozzles might be clogged. Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so perform print head cleaning only when necessary.

HP D7360 prints in magenta instead of black. Both cartridges are

Check your other colours. Anything other than a True Type Font is printed in colour shaded with black, so it sounds like you have a problem with yellow and cyan. Either the ink cartridges are out or the print heads have a blockage.
If the cartridges are not empty or v low, try sitting the print head over a folded paper kitchen towel damped with hot water for 10 minutes. Remove it and try your diagnostic again.

Hi rfillmore, I would suggest you update your printer drivers, try this, follow instructions exactly as written:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.
