Question about DekCell EasyCap USB 20 Video Capture Adapter with Video Editor Software (CPA1280) Video Capture

Open Question

I have an EasyCap without the audio working. Video works just fine. I right-clicked My Computer and looked in Device Manager. I don't see the driver under USB controllers. I do however see SMI Grabber Device under "Sound, Video, and Video controller". How can I get EasyCap's audio driver working?

You probably have the "made in China" fake (I do) rather than the Taiwanese EasyCap. EasyCap have now changed their name to EzCap because of the fakes
You can download the full CD that includes the driver that works with Windows 7 64 bit herewww.eecrest.com/Drivers_and_Manual/1045.rar
Don't plug in the device and hope windows will pick up the driver from the disk, it won't!
Run the setup first and plug in the adapter when it asks, the driver is not certified, but I tried it after searching everywhere and it works

SOURCE: Hi, when trying to capture video with easycap two

The following link gives you a collection of drivers for the EasyCap USB 2.0 adapter. Just choose the one for your operating system. The STK1500, which is actually the STK1600, works fine with Windows 7 32 bit.

EasyCap input audio quality problem!! HELP

You have told us the operating system, but not what type of computer you have. For example if the video from the device is good you could, if the computer has an audio in socket, use that to connect the device. Many VCR's etc have audio out so just use that as a direct connection, then it doesn't matter if the capture device sound settings don't match your computer's. The main thing is the video feed is good.

Computer says no audio device found...speakers had been working for many months..do not have software disc to reload

This sounds like it could be a case of corrupted drivers getting loaded. Without knowing what operating system you're running, I can only offer a general solution for Windows.

Often, if something was working just fine (ie. speakers, mice, etc.) and suddenly stop working for no apparent reason (ie. no new software, updates to existing software, etc.), a reload of the drivers will solve the problem.

Locate the Device Manager. Typically this can be found by Clicking Start --> Control Panel --> Performance and Maintenance --> System. Select the Hardware tab, then Device Manager. Look for the Sound, video, etc. listing. Expand the list by clicking the "+" sign. Check the listing for a yellow question mark. If one is found, right click on that item and select Properties. Click on the Driver tab. Click the "uninstall" button. This may seem a bit scary, but the affected device will come back in the next step! Go back to the Device Manager listing and right-click on another device. Select "Scan for hardware changes". This will find device you just "uninstalled", reload and reconfigure the drivers.

If you still have the problem, provide some additional details.

All you need to do is refresh the driver.

You can do this by going to the device manager.

You can click START then go to CONTROL PANEL then go to HARDWARE AND SOUND and look for DEVICE MANAGER.

Look for "Sound, video game controllers" from the list. Double-click or click the expand button on the far left. You should see the name of your device. i.e. Realtek HD Audio.

You need to right-click on the device. There should be a menu that would come up. Choose UNINSTALL. Just click the OK button on the next pop-up. Just make sure you DON'T select the "delete the driver software" option.

**If you have two Audio devices then you can uninstall the other one too. Because your computer will re-install it automatically and reset the settings to default with it. There this procedure fixes a lot of driver settings/configuration issues.

Close all the pages and RESTART the computer.

You should see on the bottom right of your screen when it gets to your background that the driver is installing. When it says "Driver re-installed successfully!" then you can test the front headphone jacks.

Please feel free to give you comments, questions and please do rate this solution.

Thanks,

To install Easy Cap go to http://www.worldstart.com/easycap/ download driver, extract to desktop, install Ulead Video-studio, go to Device Manager, find USB Video Capture, right click, click Update driver, browse My Computer for driver software, click Browse button find folder (driver) on desktop click next everything should install. If you have 32bit it will work if 64bit it will not function. You will need to make some changes Ulead Video-studio like source, volume so-forth.

Have EasyCap video capture device and vista x86

I have windows vista and my drivers load fine. Plug in the unit and the drivers load. I have the 4 camera easycap and the VCR easycap. Install drivers first before plugging in the unit. Restart computer, plug in unit, check device manager if there is a stk1150 loaded under image. My problem is getting small files from the recordings. I converted 2 mins of my daughters dance solo and it turned out 1.7gb AVI file without sound. Changing the options to mpeg or WV files will crash the program becuase something doesn't match. I need to play with it more to understand it better.

Cannot get sound or colour to work

Sound:

I had exactly the same problem and solved it by updating the drivers for the USB sound/audio device.

My XP version is in Swedish so I´m not sure what it says in English, but it should say something like the following.

Go to the "Device manager" by right clicking on "This computer" and choosing "Properties", locate the "USB sound/audio device" under the "Sound, Video and Game"-category and right click and chose "Update drivers". Then chose "Search for drivers on the internet" and chose "Recommended installation".
My new drivers are called "USB EMP Audio Device". They work perfectly. Of course you have to chose these drivers under "Options/Input source".

I wasn´t able to update the actual EasyCap video adapter, but it doesn´t seem to matter if you´re having problems with the sound.

Video:

Click on "File", then "Preferences" then "Capture" flap, check the "Allow access to capture device´s settings" box, click "OK". Go the the "Capture" flap in the main window and chose "Capture video". Now you should see "Options", click and chose "Capture properties", then "Video capture filter", click "Properties" in the same window and the chose the correct "Videostandard", for example "NTSC" for USA and "PAL" for Europe. Try all of the alternatives until you get a picture.

Make sure you have chosen the right input source under "Options (see above/Input source". Chose Composite or S-video (you´re likely using composite). I can´t use an S-videocable, only a videocable, otherwise the picture turns black and white.

Now you should see something, if not, maybe something went wrong when you installed the drivers/software.

Hope this helps!
