From a Windows Operating System:

- From the computer, open the document to be printed within an application program.
- Click on [File] on the toolbar, and then click [Print]. The Print window will be displayed.
- Click on the [Properties] button, or the [Printing Preferences] button. The Properties or Printing Preferences window will be displayed.
- Click on the [Paper / Quality] tab.
NOTE: Most applications will automatically provide the page size information to the driver. If not, steps 8 - 10 describe how to create a custom page size.
- Select the required paper size from the Document Size pull down menu, if available.
- If the required custom paper size is not available click on the [My Customer Sizes…] button.
- To create a new custom paper size setting click on the [New] button.
- In the Name field enter the name to be given to the custom paper size. For example 127 mm x 394 mm (5 in. x 10 in.)
- In the Width field enter the width of the custom paper size.
NOTE: The width should always be the short edge of the paper. For example, if the custom size is 127 mm by 394 mm (5 inches by 10 inches), the width must be set to 127 mm (5 inches) regardless of the orientation of the document or the feed method on the printer.
- In the Height field enter the height of the custom paper size.
NOTE: The height should always be the long edge of the paper. For example, if the custom size is 127 mm by 394 mm (5 inches by 10 inches), the height must be set to 394 mm (10 inches) regardless of the orientation of the document or the feed method on the printer.
- Click on [Save]
- Click on [Close].
- Select the required paper size from the Document Size pull down menu.
- Click on [OK] twice to print
- Click on [File] on the application toolbar, and then click on [Page Setup]. The Page Setup window will be displayed.
- From the Printer Description pull-down menu, select the correct PPD file for your printer.
- Select the custom paper size for your document from the Paper Size pull-down menu.
- If the required custom paper size is not available click on the [Manage Custom Sizes…]. The Custom Page Sizes window will be displayed
- To create a new custom paper size setting click on the [+] button.
- Double click on [Untitled] and enter the name to be given to the custom paper size.
- At the Page Size field enter the width and height of the custom paper size.
- Click on [OK] twice.

- Open the paper tray and remove the tray from the printer.

- Fan the stack of paper or other paper stock. Make sure the edges of the stack are neat.
NOTE: Fanning the paper allows air to flow between the sheets. This helps prevent several sheets of paper from feeding into the printer together and causing paper jams.
- Load the paper into the tray. Make sure to use paper within specifications for this printer. See the Related Items below for additional information.
NOTE: There are separate fill lines inside the paper tray for envelopes and for other paper stock. Do not load the paper above the fill line.
Overloading the paper tray can cause jams. Follow the steps below to load the required stock.- Single-sided printing: Load the side of the paper to be printed face-up with the top of the page toward the front of the tray.
- 2-sided printing: Load the side of the paper to be printed face-up with the top of the page toward the front of the tray.
- Side-flap envelopes: Load the envelopes with the flap side down and the flap toward the left side of the tray.
- Pre-punched paper: Load the side of the paper to be printed face-up with the holes toward the right side of the tray.
NOTE: When using pre-punched paper, adjust the print margins to accommodate for the holes. Printing over the holes may cause Ink to transfer onto subsequent pages. A minimum margin of 19 mm (0.75 in.) is recommended.
- Adjust the paper tray edge guides by pressing the sides of the length guide inward, and then slide the guide until the arrow on the guide points to the appropriate paper size imprinted on the bottom of the tray. When properly positioned, the guide will click into place.

- Adjust the paper tray width guide by sliding the width guide until the arrow on the guide point to the appropriate paper size labeled on the bottom of the tray. When properly positioned, the guide will click into place.
NOTE: When the paper guides are adjusted correctly, there may be a small space between the paper and the guides.
- Re-install the paper tray into the tray slot and push the tray completely into the printer.
- Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Paper Tray Setup] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
- Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select either [Tray 2 Paper Type], [Tray 3 Paper Type], or [Tray 4 Paper Type], and then press the [OK] button.
- Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select the appropriate paper type, and then press the [OK] button.
- Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Exit] to return to the Main screen.
