Tri Colour cartridge inserted is not intended for use in this printer msg
My all in one 1315 printer has been working PERFECTLY...I had been making some photocopies yesterday (black & white) and then otta the blue the above error message came up. I had not just installed a new colour cartridge. I've been using this printer for a long time and have inserted the correct colour cartridge (#57)....I've tried the reset button, taking out both cartridges, rebooting my computer, unplugging the printer and still this message comes up...I can't print anything now....can you help?
Re: Tri Colour cartridge inserted is not intended for use...
Try to clean the print cartridge contact points with a good rubber eraser and clean the printer side cartridge contacts with good lint free cotton cloth. Then first insert Black cartridge and then colour cartridge. Use some more pressure while attaching the cartridges.

Your pen nib is faulty, but you are filling the ink, it wont work right?.. Similarly print cartridge(s) are faulty, no use to refill it. Do this exercise:Remove both cartridges from the printer, switch on the printer see the cartridge missing status on panel, insert mono(Black) cartridge close the door see the panel massage, if it's detected no issue with mono cartridge,if not mono cartridge faulty. insert colour cartridge & see..find out replace it...
Make sure you've got either 56 or 27 black and 57 or 28 colour cartridges. See here:
You "pop" them down then withdraw the old ones. Put the new ones in angled slightly upwards then click them up into place. The raised plastic on top of the cartridges will prevent installation into the wrong ports. If you're trying to put in a 58 photo cartridge it goes into the black port.
This is error is common after a cartridge is refilled, in most cases it's because of "bad refill" and we can also say "dead cartridge". If possible, Please try the cartridge on another printer or try your printer with another cartridge. (i hope you know what tri color mieans = the color cartridge). Make sure the cartridge is not overflowing or leaking. Clean if possible, and never touch the print head, if you ever did so there's no way to make it work again. Hope this helps.
Thanks for using FixYa.
not quiet a solution dugguly but i've just had the same problem in reverse, i moved to the us with same printer, ink ran dry, it won't take hp94. after 3 phone calls and 4 emails with hp i learned that all hp printers sold after 2004 are regionalised, therefore a us printer will NOT WORK with UK bough cartridges and vice-a-versa. the only way round this is to call the HP support and ask to be taken through the step by step guide to reseting the region of your printer to the UK regional setting OR and this is my option, get friends/family in the US to ship US cartridges to you in the UK. Too bad as Tesco do a good line in gneric cartridges - Good luck - mattw
Its the cartridges...... you will have to get more or new ones. I changed mine after a week of fiddling around - and printer worked perfectly. Wish the error message had been specific, then I would not have wasted all my time. The cartridges that didnt work were brand new HP 350 and 351 cartridges - straight from the packets, but the printer "didnt like them"..... A waste of money but Im going to try and put them back into machine tomrrow and see if I can fool it!!!
