Question about DeLonghi RT200 Retro 2-Slice Toaster

Open Question

How do I clean a Delonghi toaster? I pulled out the tray at the bottom but I don't know how to get the rest of the crumbs out. A mouse made it's way into the toaster and I want to sterilize it. Thank You!

Model TQ-800H gets toohot and shuts off.

i've found this to be a common problem.... typically, people will clean out the crumb tray at the bottom of the toaster, whilst other crumb bits remain elsewhere inside the toaster, especially close to the heating elements, and alot of newer models today have a safety sensor. try giving it a good thorough cleaning and visual inspection to rule out a little excess building getting in your way...literally. lol. hope this helps

How do I open Delonghi CTO4003 toaster

If by open you mean get the crumbs out, there are two slide trays. Pull them out rearward, dump them, and slide them back in.

How to clean the inside of a toaster

Slide the bottom door under the toaster and it will open, I would suggest doing it over a waste can or sink. You can take a small thin brush and get the crumbs out. Then your toaster will be back in working order. Crumbs that are stuck in the bottom of the tray is what causes it to burn the toast.

Just purchased toaster oven model CE23551 and it did not have a crumb tray as advertised on the box and owner manual. Why is there no crumb tray ?

This model does NOT come with a crumb tray. In order to remove the crumbs from the bottom it must be shaken (like a toaster). I understand that this may be a little inconvenient; however, this machine is made relatively light weight for that purpose.

Constant use can lead to crumbs clogging the path of the lever. Try opening up the bottom panel, by pulling on the metal tab to release the plate (and crumbs!) over a trash can. Also try flipping the toaster upside down and, very gently, shaking the crumbs out. if that doesn't work, you can try checking the toaster's browning dial. This might be too low to activate the heating coil. Try dialing it up, and pushing the lever down again. I hope this helps. You can check our post on Best ways to use a Toaster oven. Where can I purchase a new bread crumb tray (goes in the bottom) for Euro Pro toaster oven model TO251? What is the coast? Don

From my research from several sources, you can't. Best bet is to buy a baking sheet of 12" x 12" size and use it as the crumb tray. These inexpensive ovens are throw away items, hence, no part supplies.

4 slice toaster when pressed down to start toaster they won't stay down.(either side) Yes I have it plugged in

Try cleaning the bread crumbs out of it. If you get enough piled up under the latch mechanism, you can't push it down far enough to engage it.

You may be able to do an adequate job by opening the bottom cover - most toasters are made so it's easily removed for this very purpose. If not, you'll need to pull off the knobs and remove screws so you can take off the top cover. Be careful not to touch the heater wires with any tools - after they've been used a while they become rather brittle and break easily, and even a scratch can cause them to erode and fail. I assume you know to unplug the toaster before working on it.

I have the 4-slice oster, but I bet the control mechanism is the same. When you take it apart you will see a small steel bar held by two plastic fingers. When you push the lever down the steel bar moves down and contacts a small square electromagnet. The electromagnet holds the lever down during toasting and releases the lever when done. On mine there was a compressed layer of bread crumbs covering the electromagnet. Cleaned it off and now it works again.

To take the toaster apart, pull the down lever straight out and then unfasten the screws on the bottom base (5 on mine) and pull the top off carefully. There are wires connecting the control face to the base, but they have enough slack to let you separate the top/bottom and access the mechanism.
