Question about Electrolux EW1200i Front Load Washer / Dryer

1 Answer

The pc board blew due to the door lock shorting out so I have replaced both and now I still have no display. I have power light and door light and it locks the door when powered on.Checked pump resistance and it is fine. please advise as I have already blown a pc board from not replacing the door lock once and its starting to get expensive.

Check to make sure that the wire harness that connects between the main board and the control panel electronics is intact and fully inserted to both. The connections must be snug fit, clean and corrosion free. Reseat the connection several times to clean off dirt and corrosion build in the connector terminals.

You don't have a choice but to replace the control panel electronics board if there's no issue found with the wire harness and connections. The main board is new and there's no other reason the display not to come out except a faulty control panel electronics.

I checked the harness and all is snug and clean. When the pc board blew there were obvious signs that it had blown but with the display panel there are no signs of faults that I can see. Is it possible to get someone to test or check the display board for maybe a quick cheap fix or would I be waisting my time. Because If I buy the panel then I have nearly spent as much as it cost to buy the whole thing.

The main board operates on full AC line voltage so it will be obvious when something shorts out as indicated by spark marks. The control panel electronics operates on 12/24 VDC so it will not be obvious when it fails. You don't have to ask someone to look and test the control panel electronics which will cost you further. Knowing that the main board is good, the wire harness and connections are snug and clean are good enough to conclude that the control panel electronics is indeed at fault. There's no such thing as quick cheap fix for this issue other than replacing the control panel electronics. Sounds frustrating but it's the truth.

Why does the fuse immediately blow on my power door locks? how to fix this?

You have a short somewhere in the system. Maybe one of the lock actuators or a switch. To test disconnect all locks and switch then replace fuse if don't blow start with driver door and reconnect lock check fuse see if it blew if not reconnect switch active lock check fuse see if ok. Continue with each door separate using same steps until fuse no good you will have found short. Replace shorted part.

My power window and door locks fuse keeps blowing.

When the fuse blows figure out what you are doing, what switch is being pressed, then remove the needed panels to access the wiring to the switch and motor it operates, then you will find the damaged wiring and repair the short, no quick fix, just hard grunt work.

Power door locks won't work and the instrument pnnel lights won't turn on. I replaced blown fuse a 20mp one in position 14 I believe. worked ok till I tried to lock the doors, the fuse blew

Hello. Try looking at the black earth that goes from the drivers door and into the A frame which is covered in a rubber sheath. The wire can break after opening and shutting the door over several years and as it's normally the thicker wire is more prone to break. Also check the other wires visually for any chaffing and tugging on each wire. If more electrical parts start failing, air con blowers etc it will be an earth. Hope this helps

MY MACHINE STOPPED MID PROGRAM. the red light indicating the door is locked is not on so i suspect this is why it stopped. the door itself is locked and will not open. the machine is full of clothes and...

You haven't given the machine make and model. The door lock is electrically operated and so if the door will not open even after unplugging the machine from the mains power, then the door lock has probably shorted and got stuck (welded contacts due to excessive power). This may also be the reason why the machine stopped and the red light is off. The mains fuse may also have blown. This used to be a common problem on Hotpoint washing machines. A track on the program circuit board would also burn out due to the current. The repair in this case was to replace the door lock and repair the burnt out track.

In terms of emptying the machine, if this is a front loader, then try banging the front of the machine where the door latch is situated. This may be enough to free the lock mechanism. If not, then remove the top cover AFTER FIRST DISCONNECTING THE POWER, and see if you can get access to the door lock form inside. It should be possible to dismantle the control panel and free the front of the machine, which will still be attached to the rubber drum seal.

Hotpoint aquarius extra wma40 - door locked light is flashing and want lock. also before this happened a sound from the machine like an explosion which blew out fuse in the house. please advice

Hi.
I suspect that the top control board has blown , this happens when the brushes wear out in the motor, and short circuit the motor armature, which in turn blows the control board.
Either way it is likely to be an expensive repair, my advice to you would be to buy a new washer if it is more than 5 years old.
I know from experience that this is the most likely course.

Blow fuse for interior lights and windows

The short is probably an electronic device which shorted a semi conductor in it's cicuit. Even replacing a fuse will only blow them out right away. Do you notice anything electronic that do not work? For example the radio or something. Anyways I am from houston as well.

Hotpoint WMA13 door lock fault

If the door locked light is flashing , then the main board probably has a fault on it, due to a problem with the motor, or the board itself being faulty.
Recommend calling an engineer.

Try unplugging the oven from the electrical power. May release the lock, which is held in place by a tiny micro switch. If not and while the electric is still off or the oven is unplugged, use a bright light flashlight to look through the slot where the lock is in the oven, not in the door.

You may be able to use a thin blade screwdriver to move the lock to the release position. Check the angle of the lever. A slightly bent lever handle also can cause this type of condition.

If all else fails, remove the access panel on the front of the oven to access the locking device and release it. May have to disconnect the wires to the lock which will allow door to function but not during any self cleaning modes.
